Chapter 10 - The Million-Dollar Deal

A few minutes later, her reply came.

BlackHoodedGuy: Okay. Sir, I will find you hacking jobs. I will let you know as soon as I find something.

Ghost: Good, text me when you find anything for me.

Arthur immediately started to trace if BlackHoodedGuy and Clara are one person or not. He typed rapidly, tracing BlackHoodedGuy's digital footprint back from the forum. It took him twenty minutes, but he found her. He pulled her files, her real name, her location… and her pictures.

He was right. BlackHoodedGuy was Clara Jackson.

He didn't stop there. He kept digging. Another thirty minutes confirmed the rest of her story: her father was, in fact, serving a life sentence for killing her mother. She was telling the truth.

She is talented. She is good at hacking. I only managed to trace her because of the system. Without it, she would be a ghost. This system… it puts me on a completely different level.

Arthur checked his message section. There was a message from BlackHoodedGuy.

BlackHoodedGuy: Sir, I found a task for you. My client accidentally transferred three and a half million to the wrong account. He needs the transaction altered in the bank's logs. It needs to look like the transfer failed and was returned so he can get the money back.

Ghost: Tell me about the payment.

BlackHoodedGuy: He is offering $500000.

Ghost: tell him the price is one million. Non-negotiable. He can take it or find someone else.

BlackHoodedGuy: Okay, sir. I will let him know.

Ghost: And stop calling me sir. And don't be so formal. We're partners, not master and servant. We need to be on the same page.

BlackHoodedGuy: Okay… Ghost.

Damn! I need a good configuration laptop. This old thing is slow as shit. Maybe I will buy a phone too. It's time for a little upgrade.

Arthur minimized that forum, and he started searching for laptops on the regular web. When the system panel appeared in front of his face.

[Ding!]

[New Information process complete]

Finally, the process is complete. Let's see what this is.

Then lines of text started to appear, one line at a time.

[> Initializing core functions…]

[> Scanning…]

[> Decrypting data flow…]

[> Access granted.]

[Finalizing…]

Suddenly he felt a headache. It was so painful that he held his head with both hands.

Ugh!!! Again!!! This headache!! Is killing me!!!

He felt as if certain information suddenly appeared in his brain.

"Website ###, Modded laptop... exclusive...Optimized...

Arthur's headache was gone now, and he finally compiled the information that suddenly appeared in his mind.

[You have received the information.]

[Information Obtained: Laptop (Max-Spec)]

Wow. This time system gives me information on where to find the max-spec laptop. It's not just a regular laptop. It's modded with max everything and most optimized with compatible hacking software.

[New Skill is still in process.]

[Processing…]

And there's still a new skill on the way. This is really the most unique system.

Arthur immediately reopened his special browser and typed in the dark web address the system had given him.

He looked at the details of the laptop, and his jaw dropped. It was listed as a Razer Blade 18, but the specs were insane and utterly impossible. An AMD EPYC 9965 server processor, 256 GB of RDIMM DDR5 ram, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 and 8 TB PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD.

What the fuck!!?? How the hell?? Those parts weren't made for laptops. How the hell does it even fit into it? they weren't even standard for high-end desktops. The AMD EPYC 9965 processor is server class, not typically supported in gaming laptop motherboards. Not to mention the cooling/power demands of EPYC 9965 are huge. a laptop would struggle to handle that even with the massive modification.

This ram is for a server/workstation module. Those are not compatible with laptop motherboards. Even when a module is physically the right size, the board's BIOS/firmware may refuse to support high bank/rank modules.

Not to mention In a tightly packed laptop chassis with already hot components, the SSD could become a thermal bottleneck.

I don't even know where the main joke is. Is it this so-called max-spec laptop, the website, or the system that gave me nonsense information?

Arthur looked at the price, and it was 2 ₿.

2 BTC!!! Goddamnit. Isn't it too overpriced for this overloaded machine that can explode at any moment? It will need a power plant just to run the damn thing. But the system has called it optimized. Meh! I'll just order it. If the system says it's good, then I'll take the risk.

Arthur ordered the laptop, and it was Pay First.

Pay First? If the system hadn't told me to buy this, I would have never bought it from this shady address. I would assume this was a 100% scam.

Arthur opened his crypto wallet and bought 232800 USDT from his E-wallet and bought 2 ₿ for 232800 USDT and transferred his 2 ₿ into the seller's wallet.

The website confirmed the payment and promised to deliver within 72 hours. He gave Southern State Institute of Technology (SSIT) as a delivery address.

He checked his remaining balance, and it was $583700 in his e-wallet.

I need to find a way to earn money using my hacking skills. I don't want to become rich by hacking innocent people's bank accounts. Well, I am not a saint, as I'm helping criminals. So I'm as criminal as them. But I am not a menace either. I will need to think of something different.

Arthur opened the dark web forum, and BlackHoodedGuy sent a message.

BlackHoodedGuy: My client is ready to pay one million dollars for the job. But he will only pay into a bank account. Should I cancel it?

Arthur smirked.

I knew he would be willing to pay a million for this job. Hacking a major bank server is not child's play. If one can hack the bank server. He can destabilize a country's economy.

Ghost: Finalize the deal. I'll need two things. The sender and receiver bank details for the transaction you need to reverse

BlackHoodedGuy: Okay, Ghost.
