Theodora was suffocating against his hold. She clawed and pushed at his arm but to no avail, and her vision had started to blur.
She heaved, desperate for air for nothing came in.
The look in his eyes was feral. They hadn't turned like that till she had mentioned his father during her tantrum, which had triggered all this.
The pain from the chokehold had her face going red, and her knees weakened along with her struggle as darkness began to settle in. She blinked much faster, knowing she would soon pass out.
"Never in your life...," His eyes were a lethal warning, and he was breathing like an enraged beast.
The second he released her, oxygen ran down her lungs like fire and she coughed and gasped at the same time. She slipped down the wall and fell on her butt, dragging more air into her lungs till the suffocating feeling was almost gone.
Then, she looked up at him with her own burning hatred. He was a fortunate bastard that Seraphina was asleep right now, or else she would have retaliated right now and she would make sure she drew blood.
She pushed herself to her feet, and without fear, she spat, "Fuck you, Zeke,"
He didn't say anything, and she walked past him, lying on her bed, facing the wall. She didn't catch the slight flicker of regret in his eyes, and even if she did, it was too late.
Minutes passed, and he didn't move from the wall. Then, he murmured, "Be careful,"
She was instantly off the bed again, "You almost killed me, you monster!"
"You went out of line!"
"If you had just shut up when I walked in, I wouldn't have...," She hit back the rest of her words, "You know what? Whatever, man,"
As she turned back to lie on her bed, she unintentionally pressed her wrist a little too hard and winced loudly, "Goddamnit!" She cursed, then snapped at him again, "This is your fault, too! What the hell happened to you last night? And why did I have to be the one to bear the goddamned consequences of your actions, for fuck sake?"
He didn't say anything.
Tears stung the back of her eyes as she threw herself under the duvet. If she was going to let a tear fall, she would never let him see.
"Why aren't you healing?" His question was unexpected, and his deep voice was...softer.
Softer?!
She didn't reply this time.
She heard movements, but couldn't tell exactly where he was in the room. Something fell on top of her duvet, and she threw out an arm to check wondering if it was a failed attempt to stone her head like last time.
Instead, she found herself holding an ice pack.
Her anger calmed, and she shifted out of the covers to look at it properly.
It was a small ice pack, and she then looked up at him.
"Unless you want that wrist to turn into something more disgusting," He said flatly.
This man was outrageous and full of himself, but an ice pack would really go a long way.
"Whatever," She murmured and placed the Pack over her wrist.
The silence that took over was breathable. It lasted for a while, almost an hour of total calm. But sleep wasn't coming. At least, her wrist was getting a bit better.
"It's gonna happen every night," Zeke broke the silence.
She asked softly, "How do you wake up? I mean I tried but...,"
"I wake up when..., when it's over,"
She swallowed and glanced at him. He probably had no idea she saw what he was dreaming about, and the way his body reacted.
"It's the first time...I'm waking up in the middle of it," He added.
Yeah, and it was all thanks to the pendant that weakened Seraphina in the process. Theo was a little worried about both of them, but she didn't want to show him how much she cared. Whatever he had gone through was his problem - and everyone has problems.
"It's because you touched me, and...," She cursed inwardly, then continued, "Well, let's just say the pendant reacted to your...intense emotions and helped you wake up,"
She felt him look at her, but she didn't look back. She was afraid she would get caught up in the look, and her heart would pound much faster.
"I wear this pendant for a good reason, Zeke," She carried on, "And I would never take it off for anyone, or for any reason. So you're just gonna have to figure... yourself out. Because I'm not here to lend you a helping hand,"
Theodora cursed at herself again. She sounded so much like her brothers right now - but the kinder version. She's never been one to ignore someone who needed her help, but Zeke wasn't just anyone; he's Cain's son, and it could get more complicated if she gets involved.
Theodora was awake till midnight. She sat up on her bed, staring at the open window. She had been so tired when she first walked into the room with thoughts of sleeping, but that chokehold erased all that.
A wolf howled somewhere in the school, and in seconds, she had rushed footsteps heading in the direction of the howl. They were heading for the boneyard, and she wondered what was going on.
Just then, Zeke began to twitch. She turned to him and saw that his lips were muttering unheard words again, and then his eyes fell open, revealing that growing dangerous orange in them that was slowly overshadowing the dark.
It won't be long before he gets up and starts to walk around the room.
The psychic projection she saw of a younger him was traumatising, and she knew he was going through the same thing right now. He was back in that eerie lab, strapped down tightly, getting injected, with that shadowy figure above him.
Slowly, she got up from her bed and walked up to his. Then, she reached down and placed her good hand on his shoulders to see if contact would work again.
Nothing happened. At first.
Then, the pendant began to glow. But unlike before, the glow wasn't so bright. It was just bright enough to light up the room, and she watched as Zeke's heavy breathing lessened, and became normal again.
The twitching stopped, too, and his eyes fluttered closed.
Then, the pendant's glow stopped.
She took her hands away from his shoulders and turned to walk back to her bed when his arm suddenly shot out and grabbed hers.
She paused and stared at him. He was still sleeping. "Zeke?" She whispered.
Then, he yanked her down.
Theodora gasped as she fell into bed with him, and his strong arms wrapped around her body, pulled her close and trapped her there.
She panicked and tried to pull away, but she had no strength.
To make matters worse, she felt her face and her body beginning to revert back to normal. Seraphina said thid wouldn't happen unless she was asleep, but Seraphina was resting at the moment and the wolf powers she had used In doing this was diminishing.
Oh no! This couldn't be happening.
In seconds, Theo looked like a girl again, and their bodies were completely mashed against each other.
