Desmond ran towards the first dar-tandemon while Emmanuel ran towards the second dar-tandemon.
Both dar-tandemons ran towards their opponents as well.
As Desmond got close to the first dar-tandemon, he prepared his right fist and threw it at the demon but it blocked with both arms.
Time seemed to stop at the moment as Desmond stood before the first dar-tandemon.
"Since I'm not as skilled at using the swords like Emmanuel..." He thought as he set his right foot forward and his left foot back.
"I'm gonna concentrate..." He readied his fists and his arm guard started glowing as energy surged through his veins.
"On using raw strength." He said and threw another fist at the dar-tandemon which blocked with one hand. It also threw a fist at Desmond who swiftly leaned back a little, dodging the attack.
"I won't let my years of harsh training be in vain." He leaned forward and unleashed a barrage of blows at the dar-tandemon which did the same. They now stood- toe to toe- throwing fast, multiple punches at each other. At a point, he quickly ducked making the dar-tandemon miss him when it threw a powerful punch.
"It's payback time." He blurted out with a hint of amusement in his tone sweeping his opponent with his leg to the ground and quickly got up, kicking it in the gut and sending it rumbling across the street and into a building. He ran and got in front of the dar-tandemon the moment it got up and punched it in the stomach to the wall making it cough out blood and creating a crater in the wall.
"I'm gonna make you pay for what you did to me." He stated again. This time with a mix of rage and amusement as he ferociously kept unleashing barrrages of blows upon it. He then held it by the fur on its neck and threw it back into the street, before going after it again.
On Emmanuel's side, he was clashing swords with the second dar-tandemon. They seemed to be fighting on equal foot.
"Looks like I've gotten a bit faster." He thought and gave a develish grin.
"But I wanna be more faster than this. Much more faster." He thought as he continued thrusting his sword at an even faster rate, giving it multiple cuts on different parts of its torso. Emmanuel took a step forward, continuing his endless assault.
"Sh- shit" The demon mused, taking a step back and Emmanuel taking a step forward.
"How is he suddenly moving so fast." It mused again, taking another step back. "I can barely see his movements."
Emmanuel took another step forward, using speed over strength to overwhelm the demon.
Emmanuel looked for an opening and moved back. The dar-tandemon stopped for a moment to recover, but Emmanuel lunged at him again and thrusted his sword forward which the dar-tandemon parried with its sword but immediately, the sword disappeared from Emmanuel's right hand and appeared in his left hand.
"Wh- what!" The dar-tandemon gasped at Emmanuel's quick reaction. Without giving it time to react, Emmanuel gave the demon an upward slanted slash to its chest, making it growl in pain. He then gave it an uppercut, making it fall back. He jumped up above it when it was falling and spun forward using his right leg to kick it into the ground. The moment he landed, he turned around and made three backflips before turning around and sprinting towards Desmond.
The first dar-tandemon threw its right fist at Desmond who parried it with his left hand and used the right one to punch the dar-tandemon in the left rib. The dar-tandemon bent a little, clutching its rib as Desmond kicked it in the right calve, making it go down on its right knee.
Desmond attempted another punch but then a sword appeared in the dar-tandemon's hand and it plunged it at Desmond who leaped backwards avoiding the attack. He then turned around and dashed towards Emmanuel. They both dashed past each other, with a high five, switching opponents.
Desmond ran towards the second dar-tandemon which had multiple cuts on its body and a large slash on its chest. It got and attempted a punch to Desmond but felt a sharp pain rush through its cuts and froze mid-way, growling in pain as Desmond jumped, running a knee into its face.
Emmanuel dashed towards the second dar-tandemon which had a sword in its hand. Emmanuel used his blade to make a slash towards the dar-tandemon which it parried with its sword. But before Emmanuel could do anything else, another sword appeared in the dar-tandemon's other hand which was up. Emmanuel widened his eyes noticing the situation he was in.
"You lose brat." The dar-tandemon said, sticking its tongue and swung the blade down at Emmanuel. But before the blade could get half way to touching Emmanuel, a devilish grin painted his lips.
"Wrong." He said and suddenly parried the attack with a sword in his other hand.
"What!" The dar-tandemon widened its eyes in shock and noticed that the sword which used to be in Emmanuel's right hand was not there. With that, everything made sense.
At the moment the dar-tandemon swung its blade down at Emmanuel, the katana in his right hand disappeared and reappeared in his left hand which he used to parry the attack.
The dar-tandemon frowned and started exchanging blows with Emmanuel, the intense clashing of steels, once again, ripping through the atmosphere. But although the dar-tandemon was wielding two blades, Emmanuel seemed to be winning with just one katana, delivering multiple cuts to the demon's arms. The dar-tandemon gritted its teeth in frustration.
"How...did he get so strong?" It thought but felt that something was off. "No. That's not it. I seem to have gotten slower. Could it be...?" It shot a glance at Desmond for a moment and back to the fight.
"I'm suffering from the side effects of taking too much damage to my muscles. That little..." It groaned, its frustration rising. "He did it on purpose to make my muscles tense up in attempting to get healed automatically in my system, thereby limiting my movements. And this guy intentionally created several cuts to the other dar-tandemon so that any movement will 'cause a surging pain, making it stop in its tracks. Did they plan this on purpose?"
"What is it, hot shot?" Emmanuel asked with a mocking grin snapping it out of its thoughts.
"You seem to have gotten slower. What's wrong?" The dar-tandemon only got irritated at the question but couldn't do anything about it due to the position it was in. At one point Emmanuel hit one of the dar-tandemon's blade from its hand.
"Shit." It thought but couldn't react on time as Emmanuel slashed its chest with his katana. It growled in pain as blood gushed out from the cut in its chest. Emmanuel seized the moment and jumped over it. He did a split the moment he landed and swept the dar-tandemon to the ground with his leg. He quickly did a starfish kip up to get to his feet and kicked the dar-tandemon, sending it rolling across the street.
The second dar-tandemon jumped towards Desmond to attempt another attack but again, felt an intense pain, surge through its chest and freezing in mid-air. Desmond took the chance and jumped, using both feet to stomp it in the chest and sending it strolling backwards, across the street in the other dar-tandemon's way. Both dar-tandemons collided, back against back and dropped to the ground with loud thuds. They tried getting back on their feet only to worsen the pain they were in and went down to their knees.
"Those... little punks." One said glaring at Emmanuel who stood far away from them with a wide grin, showing off his long canines.
"I'm not in a good shape." The other said and coughed out blood, before looking forward at Desmond who stood in the opposite direction of Emmanuel with a cold look in his eyes, complimenting his looks.
"Same here." The other one also said and also coughed out blood. "Those little..." It said as it spat the blood out and they were fully up. "I'M GONNA K..." It stopped in it's tracks when the two boys appeared in front of them while they still had their backs facing each other.
"DO WHAT?" Emmanuel said still with a devilish grin as the two boys unleashed barrages of punches upon the two wolf headed demons. They ended by giving them uppercuts which sent them up into the sky. The two boys then jumped up following the dar-tandemons while spinning forward with one leg at the side and the other in front. Upon catching up to them in night sky, everything seemed to slow down as the onlookers stared up at them with amazement- the little girl especially had a dumbfounded look on her face.
Both boys finally delivered downward kicks towards the dar-tandemons sending them crashing into the ground as huge mist of dust hovered into the air from the atmosphere. Emmanuel and Desmond landed in their previous positions- opposite each other, both standing at either sides of the impact.
Everyone stood there for a while looking into the hovering dust to find out what had become of the demons. The two boys took heavy breaths, clearly worn out already, but still standing on their feet. But just when everyone thought it was over, out of the dust came a beam of flames towards Emmanuel and a bolt of lightning towards Desmond. Everything seemed to slow down as the onlookers widened their eyes in shock at what was transpiring.
"Shit." Emmanuel thought with a frown as the flames approached him.
"I knew they had an ace up their sleeves but this..." Desmond also thought seeming too late to move out of the way of the lighting bolt now.
"Why did it have to come to this?" Emmanuel cried.
"No." Desmond growled.
"Tch! I can't let it end here." Emmanuel snarled.
"Not after going through the trouble to fight them!" Desmond splurted as his eyes started glowing blue.
"I just have to push past my limit!" Emmanuel roared as his eyes started glowing red.
"I'M NOT GONNA DIE HERE/ I'M NOT GONNA DIE HERE." Both Desmond and Emmanuel shouted as the lightening made contact with Desmond and Emmanuel got engulfed in the flames. The attack which made contact with Desmond created smokes around him and the flames were still around Emmanuel so they couldn't be seen. The people who were watching thought both boys were dead.
"Foolish boys." One dar-tandemon chuckled.
"They really thought they could beat us." The other one seconded.
"They should have known from the beginning that they were not match for-" The dar-tandemon was cut short when it noticed someone standing in the flames. "What!"
The other dar-tandemon also looked through the smokes to see sparkles of lightening as someone starts walking out.
"What the-" It thought with and narrowed its eyes.
The person walked out of the smokes to reveal Desmond as lightening kept flashing around him.
The other dar-tandemon also looked on as the other person walked out of the flames to reveal that Emmanuel as some parts of his body were on fire.
"Thank you..." Desmond started.
"For helping us awaken our powers." Emmanuel ended.
One of the dar-tandemons groaned in frustration.
"But how?" The other one questioned.
"We'll end this-" Emmanuel said
"Once and for all." Desmond added as the flashes of lightening around him got intense and huge aura of flames started whirling around Emmanuel
"I don't like where this is going." Both dar-tandemons thought to themselves.
Desmond shot the lightening around him into the sky which immediately attracted dark clouds while Emmanuel absorbed the flames into his hands.
"Celestial-" Desmond said and made the dark clouds gather over the dar-tandemon he was facing from his side.
"Subterranean-" Emmanuel also said. The dar-tandemons looked on at the impending death, a look of despair painted on their faces and their bodies seeming frozen.
"Bolt/ Eruption." They both added as Desmond released the lightening unto the dar-tandemon facing him and Emmanuel smacked his hands on the ground and the fire released from his palms into the ground through to the position of the dar-tandemon facing him. The flames immediately shot up in one powerful beam as both dar-tandemons growled in pain. The attacks stopped after a while to reveal both dar-tandemons burned to crisps.
Desmond and Emmanuel were breathing heavily after the attacks before Desmond widened his eyes in utter shock at what he just did.
He looked over to the arm guards on right arm.
"I...did that?" He asked himself, a look of unbelief on his face which quickly changed to a happy one. "Finally... I can fulfill my promise." He then looked up and took a deep breath, the dark clouds clearing and the moonlight piercing through them to brighten up the place as a sense of peace reigned.
Emmanuel also looked at his arm guards.
"Finally, some change. I never thought I'd get to fight one with my power before high school!" He said to himself.
Everyone hiding got out and surrounded them as applause, cheers and whistles came from every direction all for the two boys. Especially the girls of their age.
"Wow, they're so cool." One of the girls said.
"I know right." Seconded another.
"They really are?" Said another holding her phone. She took a video of the whole thing and underneath she typed: 'Check out how these guys turned the tables on the demons'. She posted it on social media.
"This is gonna go viral by tomorrow." She said to herself.
Emmanuel was running towards Desmond and waving his hand.
"Hey Des! We did it!" He shouted as he got close to him
"Yeah, we really did." Desmond managed a tired smile on his face. He took a step towards Emmanuel but the world suddenly blurred. His legs gave out and he crumpled to the ground. The last thing he heard was Emmanuel's frantic call of his name before the darkness stole his vision.
