The city lights of Chicago shimmered beyond the rain-glazed window, tall buildings glowing like distant stars as Oliver finally stepped into his apartment.
He exhaled tiredly as he clicked the door shot behind him. The familiar silence of the house enveloped him
He loosened his tie first. Then slipped out of his suit jacket, the fabric falling effortlessly from his shoulders. He draped it across the edge of the bed, running a hand through his hair as he rolled his neck.
The meeting had been long, tiring one. Burdened with numbers, projections, and endless questions from investors who wouldn't stop circling around him like vultures. Sometimes he just wants to run away from responsibilities. But, who would he leave them for? He was only the child of his parent, who loved and cherished him too much to bear another child.
But still with all the burden, he held his own confidence, even when it drains him.
