Chapter 159 - Chapter 159

The atmosphere inside Second Year Class A instantly became lively.

"Yes, yes, it's Gojo onii-san! Umaru!"

The moment she saw him, Ebina Nana practically sprang up from her seat in excitement as she turn to look at the Umaru who was making a very interesting face.

The exhausted expression she had moments ago completely disappeared.

Just earlier, she had looked like a salted fish waiting for death because Hiratsuka-sensei's literature class was about to begin.

But now?

Not only had Hiratsuka Shizuka's terrifying classical literature lesson disappeared, but her favorite "big brother-type" teacher had even come personally to substitute!

To Ebina Nana, happiness probably looked exactly like this.

Beside her, Umaru smiled helplessly while being shaken back and forth by her overly excited friend making her perfect student image perfectly.

"I know, I know… but calm down a little, Nana-san."

"Uuuu~ You don't understand, Umaru!"

Ebina puffed her cheeks adorably while clinging to Umaru's arm.

Ebina Nana had a very very positive feeling for Umaru's onii-san.

In the past, because her grades were terrible, she was constantly dragged into make-up lessons and remedial classes. Although she occasionally saw Gojo Satoru around school, her naturally shy personality made it impossible for her to approach him directly.

But now things were different!

Gojo Satoru had personally come to their classroom.

As a substitute teacher at that.

This was basically a blessing from heaven.

Maybe.....

Just maybe.....

Her favorability rating could increase by fourteen points today!

Yes.

Ebina Nana had already secretly decided in her heart. She absolutely had to leave a good impression Gojo Onii-san/Sensei.

Meanwhile, at the back corner of the classroom

A faint look of surprise flashed across the eyes of Nanako Miku.

"…It's him."

The teacher who had previously helped her.

At the same time and the man her sister liked....

Miku quietly rested her chin on her hand as her beautiful night blue eyes observed the white-haired teacher standing at the podium.

'Speaking of which…Nino brought home the latest fighting game console yesterday…'

A faint sparkle appeared in her eyes as she remember the time when her sister had bought a game and two swimsuit. She doesn't know why but her sister didn't even let them see her new swimsuit at all.

The newest fighting game had a Sengoku-era setting, which immediately attracted her interest the moment it released.

Unfortunately, the console itself was expensive.

Miku who rarely had the habit of saving money was at lost and felt embarrassed about asking her sisters to lend her any, she could only secretly envy people who already owned it.

Unexpectedly, Nino suddenly bought one yesterday!

And because the other sisters weren't interested in the Sengoku-themed game, it eventually ended up in Miku's hands almost immediately.

Thinking about that, Miku unconsciously curled her lips slightly.

At the podium,

Gojo Satoru casually raised one hand.

"Alright, alright, let's start class. Tell me the page no. where Hiratsuka-sensei had left in your previous class."

Almost instantly, the noisy classroom quieted down.

When a boy near the front raised his hand.

"Gojo-sensei, we stopped at page twenty-nine last lesson!"

"Page twenty-nine?" Gojo flipped open the Modern Japanese textbook lazily. Several large characters entered his sight.

Gojo stared at the title for several seconds. Then—a smile slowly appeared at the corner of his mouth.

"Alright. Before we begin, does anyone know what contextual interpretation means?"

Immediately, A boy sitting near the center raised his hand enthusiastically.

"Gojo-sensei! I know!"

"Go ahead."

The boy proudly stood up. "It means understanding the hidden meaning of words depending on the situation and context!"

After answering, he looked extremely pleased with himself.

Several boys nearby immediately looked regretful.

Damn it.

Too slow.

This was such a good opportunity to show off in front of their substitute teacher and the Umaru Gojo's brother!

After all, Hiratsuka Shizuka had explained this topic before, so most of them vaguely remembered the answer.

Hearing the response, Gojo first nodded approvingly, then smiled.

"That's correct. But language is interesting because sometimes the same sentence can carry completely different meanings depending on who says it."

The students nodded curiously.

Gojo leaned casually against the podium.

"For example…If someone says, 'You're pretty amazing,' the meaning changes depending on tone, relationship, and atmosphere."

A girl near the window raised her hand.

"Like sarcasm?"

Snap!

"Exactly." Gojo snapped his fingers dramatically. "See? This class already has geniuses."

The girl immediately blushed after being praised.

Meanwhile, several boys looked jealous after seeing this.

Gojo continued speaking casually.

"Modern Japanese isn't only about grammar. It's also about reading the mood. Especially in Japan."

{T/N: Don't look at me}

Several students nodded seriously.

Even Miku quietly listened more attentively.

"Sometimes people say the opposite of what they actually mean. For example…"

Gojo crossed his arms while pretending to think deeply.

"If a girl says, 'I totally don't care what you do,' there's a high chance she actually cares a lot."

The classroom instantly became lively.

Several girls looked away awkwardly. Ebina immediately covered her mouth while giggling cutely.

"Too real…"

A boy near the back raised his hand suspiciously.

"Gojo-sensei, how do you know that?"

Gojo placed one hand on his chest dramatically and announced proudly. "Experience."

The boys immediately looked at him with admiration.

Meanwhile, the girls rolled their eyes secretly.

This teacher was definitely unreliable!

But strangely, nobody disliked it.

Unlike Hiratsuka Shizuka's strict teaching style, Gojo Satoru explained things casually and naturally. {T/N: She is a good teacher}

He constantly mixed jokes into the lesson.

Sometimes he even used examples from romance manga, games, movies and anime dialogue to explain literary context while teaching.

Yet strangely, everyone could understand him easily. Even Ebina Nana slowly widened her eyes in disbelief.

"…Wait. I actually understand this…"

She looked shocked.

Modern Japanese analysis had always felt painfully complicated to her.

But after Gojo simplified everything into casual conversation examples, it suddenly became understandable.

Beside her, Umaru smiled knowingly.

"See? Onii-san is actually good at teaching."

Ebina looked moved. "He's amazing…"

At the back of the classroom, even Miku listened attentively.

Although Gojo looked unreliable most of the time—His explanations were surprisingly detailed. Even difficult reading comprehension suddenly felt easy after he explained it casually.

Time passed quickly.

Before anyone realized it,

Ding-Dong!

The class-ending bell rang loudly. Gojo as if waiting fir it quickly closed the textbook with one hand.

"Alright. That's it for today. You guys can rest now."

The entire class looked slightly disappointed.

One boy even subconsciously muttered, "…That ended too fast…"

As Gojo picked up the textbook and prepared to leave, he suddenly winked toward Umaru and Ebina.

Ebina instantly froze before long steam almost rose from her head.

"H-h-he winked—"

Umaru helplessly covered her face. "…Onii-san, please stop casually seducing girls at school…"

After Gojo left, the classroom immediately became noisy again.

"Honestly…" One boy leaned back in his chair. "Gojo-sensei's classes are actually fun."

"Right?"

Another student nodded rapidly.

"He explains things way easier than Hiratsuka-sensei."

"Oi, don't let Hiratsuka-sensei hear that unless you want to die."

The entire group burst into laughter.

Meanwhile, the girls secretly continued discussing the examples Gojo had mentioned earlier.

Especially the part about hidden meanings in conversations.

Several girls subconsciously glanced toward boys they liked.

Even Miku lowered her eyes thoughtfully.

"…Reading the mood, huh…"

At that very moment,

Far away in the teachers' office,

The culprit responsible for turning a normal Modern Japanese lesson into something resembling a comedy show was currently lying lazily in his chair while drinking coffee peacefully.

Completely unaware that his popularity inside Second Year Class A had become even more outrageous than before.
