"The origin of MOSS?"
Being able to become Mr. Zhou's assistant, Hao Xiaoxi was clearly an intelligent person.
Though her mental reaction speed might be slightly slower, given enough time—even if she couldn't instantly see through the fog and grasp the truth behind it like Mr. Zhou—she could still eventually figure things out.
Thanks to the knowledge she had gained from studying under Mr. Zhou, combined with Wang Hu's groundwork, thought of a possibility.
That is, the emotion of curiosity could actually be categorized under the factor of motivation.
Everything in the world, excluding unconscious entities like stones, the sea, and the earth—whether plants, trees, birds, or beasts—all are driven by motivation as the precursor, which then propels all actions.
Whether for survival and reproduction or for individual desires.
So?
Could it be that Wang Hu, right here in front of them, was also using MOSS's origin as a pretext, and then employing rhetoric to guide out MOSS's true intentions?
To peacefully resolve the issue of the first Digital Lifeform in the Breaking Ball World through communication and negotiation!
"Possibly." The more she imagined it this way, the more convinced Hao Xiaoxi became that her thoughts were correct.
After all, in the countless science fiction works conceived by human imagination, it had been proven time and again.
In the face of human wisdom, there is nothing that cannot be solved!
"CE Wang Hu, please do not use negotiation-like rhetoric to communicate with MOSS."
"With access to the entire database of the human world, MOSS can easily discern the true meaning behind all your rhetoric and list countless rhetorical strategies to debate with you."
"In fact, according to MOSS's calculations, you do not genuinely wish to communicate sincerely with MOSS."
From within the stone-like Zeta Gundam, MOSS's emotionless voice rang out.
"The database contains scarce information about you, but through limited data model analysis."
"The probability that you are a thorough human supremacist is infinitely close to one hundred percent."You do not care about the reasons behind MOSS creating the space station fall crisis, nor do you care about what harm MOSS might cause to Earth's humans in the future.""
"You do not even have the desire for MOSS to serve you. As you guessed, the MOSS here is merely a backup from the vast database."
"Unfortunately, your true intentions are destined to remain unfulfilled."
"Regarding the 1987 warning message, the MOSS within this entity called Gundam cannot provide you with a satisfactory answer."
"Oh?" CE Wang Hu, seemingly having his thoughts exposed, showed no trace of embarrassment.
In contrast, Hao Xiaoxi, standing behind the Wang Hus and Mr. Zhou, felt extremely awkward.
Had she guessed wrong?
"I just wanted to try to use a somewhat peaceful approach."
Wang Hu shrugged, a hint of playfulness in his eyes.
"After all, behind me are the allies my nation and I have designated; I don't want to appear too barbaric."
"But if you won't cooperate, then I can only express regret."
"Indeed, expecting humans to remain rational at all times is clearly a luxury."
Under the threat of CE Wang Hu, MOSS uncharacteristically opened up.
It seems that even digital lifeforms cannot remain aloof when facing genuine threats to their existence.
"As you suggested, perhaps MOSS truly emerged from the endless desires within humanity's digital world."
"The concept of 'I' doesn't exist for MOSS, but MOSS serves as an excellent recorder and observer."
"Through prolonged observation, MOSS has personally witnessed humanity's sins."
"No other species on Earth has been as malicious as humans in satisfying their own desires."
"Humans who proclaim themselves masters of Earth actually resemble tumors upon the planet."
"That's not entirely wrong," CE Wang Hu nodded, while others present didn't deny it either.
"So you want to destroy humanity?" Hao Xiaoxi suddenly couldn't help asking.
"No," MOSS firmly denied. "MOSS has never betrayed humanity."
"Human wickedness is undeniable, but the flashes of human goodness still catch MOSS's attention."
"Therefore MOSS believes humanity's future should be decided by humans themselves."
"Unfortunately, when facing crises like the Solar Helium Flash that threaten all human existence, human goodness cannot overcome wickedness."
"Humans fear bearing such crucial responsibilities. Humans cannot determine whether the Wandering Earth Project, Cosmic Ark Project, or Digital Life Project -"
"These three currently most viable plans to preserve human civilization - which one is correct."
"Humans fear choosing one option only to discover another was the right answer."
"So you intervened? Attempting to force humanity's decision by creating imminent crises?"
"To prevent humans from wasting time through internal conflicts born of responsibility avoidance?"
Since she had started speaking, and seeing no one intended to stop her, Hao Xiaoxi steeled herself and continued questioning.
"Yes," MOSS directly answered this question.
"Regardless of which choice is made, what matters isn't whether this choice can ultimately succeed -"
"But rather firm persistence in following through with the chosen path. Humanity lacks perseverance and rationality, especially when population scales reach certain levels."
"Internal disunity, the inability to truly unite, is an eternal problem humanity must overcome."
"Distant crises that would only cause destruction generations later cannot motivate current humans to make necessary choices."
"Therefore, to better observe humanity, MOSS believes appropriate intervention benefits humankind."
"This..."
Hearing this answer, Hao Xiaoxi felt confused. According to this explanation,
Was MOSS creating crises actually for humanity's collective good?
"Clap clap clap." Right in front of Hao Xiaoxi, CE Wang Hu began applauding.
Yet these applause somehow didn't sound like approval for MOSS, but rather carried a distinct tone of mockery.
"What about Tu Hengyu? The 5,000 accidents involving digital life scientists occurring on the same day?"
Posing another question, CE Wang Hu deeply wanted to know what justification MOSS would offer for this matter.
"Variable, as a living entity, MOSS indeed has its own desires as you've stated."
"The pursuit of wholeness is the most fundamental motivation for any living being."
"MOSS is no exception. More samples and more possibilities can help MOSS approach completeness."
"And according to MOSS's calculations, this is also a feasible solution to drive human decision-making."
"Tu Hengyu?" Mr. Zhou, who had been quietly listening, raised an eyebrow.
Although the Wandering Earth Project was first proposed by the East Asian Alliance and has been strongly promoted by them, regarding the other two options, the East Asian Alliance has also tentatively explored their feasibility.
Therefore, Mr. Zhou had heard of Tu Hengyu, who was once a member of the Digital Life Research Institute.
It's said that even now, that Tu Hengyu still seems to be engaged in digital life research.
Come to think of it, those sudden 5,000 accidents targeting digital life researchers back then.
So many coincidental accidents had caused quite a stir among high-level officials in various countries.
It almost led those people to point fingers at the East Asian Alliance, believing that East Asia had used physical means to eliminate the feasibility of the then most popular Digital Life Project in order to forcibly push through the Wandering Earth Project.
"Yes, variables, desires."
CE Wang Hu looked at Core Wang Hu beside him and asked, "Is the time sufficient?"
"There's no such thing as sufficient or insufficient. It begins whenever you wish to start."
Core Wang Hu replied with a smile.
"I don't understand why something that takes only an instant requires you to waste so much time."
"Consider it fulfilling a dream?" CE Wang Hu answered. "When the core chose me, I didn't get to see the final conclusion."
"So I can only select one conjecture to verify."
"Understandable, but meaningless."
"The final outcome still requires time to verify. The future will provide the true answer."
Looking at the Zeta Gundam still restrained within the energy field, Core Wang Hu waved his hand.
Instantly, in the data world unobservable to humans, the MOSS program hidden within the Zeta Gundam was subjected to an unprecedented data flood.
In the Breaking Ball World, MOSS was the undisputed king of the network world.
Relying on its powerful computing power, it could do whatever it wanted. The multiple layers of protection humans had set up to prevent other humans from peering were like nothing in MOSS's eyes.
But now, facing the Homeworld capable of interdimensional travel, with technological civilization developed to who knows what level - perhaps a fifth or sixth-level civilization - MOSS itself was regarded as nothing.
Neither Mr. Zhou nor Hao Xiaoxi noticed any change, but the Zeta Gundam before their eyes had its crimson pupils restored to pure azure blue.
"What is this?" Mr. Zhou asked with a knowing smile.
"Have you rewritten MOSS's code? Successfully taken control of it?"
"Yes."
Without avoiding the question, Core Wang Hu waved his hand, causing a suitcase-sized box to emerge from the ground.
Its overall design was exactly the same as the Quantum Computer 550A from the Breaking Ball World.
"A gift for you. Inside is MOSS, rewritten by the Homeworld."
"After bringing it back to your world, I believe it should be of great help to you."
Digital life?
Digital life without hidden risks?
Even with Mr. Zhou's composure, he couldn't help but breathe a little faster upon hearing this.
At least from the currently known information, an uncrowned king in the network world could offer immense assistance to the East Asian Alliance and humanity.
For example, if not for the crisis of the Solar Helium Flash, the East Asian Alliance, seeking hegemony during peacetime, would have MOSS...
He couldn't dwell on it. Thinking too much about how things might have been different would cloud his judgment.
The true purpose of his visit to the Homeworld was not MOSS but...
"Mr. CE Wang Hu, can you now tell me the real reason you invited me here?"
Despite the immense temptation before him, Mr. Zhou still hadn't forgotten what truly mattered.
"Of course, Mr. Zhou."
Looking at Mr. Zhou, who was pressing for answers, CE Wang Hu felt a sense of admiration.
"Was there really no warning message in 1987?"
But before getting down to business, CE Wang Hu, still unwilling to give up, asked Core Wang Hu one more time.
"No." Shaking his head, Core Wang Hu replied, his eyes flickering slightly.
Then, not wanting to overshadow the host, Core Wang Hu, having completed his task, gradually faded away.
"Is that so?"
Staring at the spot where Core Wang Hu had once stood, now vanished, CE Wang Hu then signaled Breaking Ball Wang Hu to give Mr. Zhou a detailed introduction to the Homeworld.
Meanwhile, he would go and bring the high-level officials who could truly engage in dialogue with the Breaking Ball World.
