"The ceiling here isn't as nice as the one back home."
Although there were many urgent matters waiting to be dealt with in the CE world—
Such as the division of the global landscape, the overt and covert struggles between major powers.
The world situation seemed to have calmed down, but beneath the surface, all sorts of bizarre ideologies were still running rampant.
Nevertheless, urged by his former captain Yang Wei, Wang Hu hastily made his way to this new world.
To clean up the mess for another version of himself, who lay in a hospital bed almost in a vegetative state.
"A war hero like you being relieved of his duties must have let many people in the CE world breathe a sigh of relief."
"And it would make it easier for the rats hiding underground to crawl out of their dark nests."
"So, until the opportunity to round them all up arrives, you might as well stay here and help me finish the work on this side."
Hearing Wang Hu's first remark after being dragged here—complaining that the ceiling of the hospital room wasn't attractive enough?
Yang Wei rolled his eyes, wondering how he had failed to notice back when they first met that Wang Hu's personality could be this awful.
"There's still a lot of work left unfinished back there."
Sighing, Wang Hu offered an explanation while turning his gaze to his counterpart in this world, lying peacefully on the hospital bed.
Looking at the other him resting serenely, Wang Hu asked,
"Could you give me a rundown of the situation?"
"To end up like this, was the opponent that formidable?"
"Whether the opponent is formidable or not, I can't say, but it shouldn't have come to this based on combat prowess alone."
Seeing that Wang Hu had steered the conversation back on track, Yang Wei began to explain the basic details.
"Later, I'll transfer his memories to you via the Homeworld, but let me give you a brief overview first."
"The structure of this world is quite similar to ours—the entire Earth is divided into three blocs."
"The Human Reform League, composed of half of Russia east of the Ural Mountains, India, and most other regions."
"The AUE on the old continent and the Union on the new continent."
"Hold on."
Wang Hu raised a hand to stop Yang Wei's introduction to the world, indicating that he was already aware of most of it, but there was one point he needed to verify.
"So, militarily, the Human Reform League is led by half of Russia, technologically it's handled by India, and politically, it's managed by the East Asian Alliance."
"You've been here longer—is that really true? What do the locals in the East Asian Alliance and the half of Russia think about this?"
"Uh."
Yang Wei himself was baffled by this. Logically, after centuries of interaction,
Both Russia and the East Asian Alliance were well-acquainted with India's technological capabilities. Even if merging was necessary to build the new solar orbital elevator,
Technology was a critical area, second only to military and political matters.
Entrusting technology to India—somehow, the Human Reform League in this world still managed to construct the solar orbital elevator.
"I don't know the specifics, but that's not the main point."
Yang Wei scratched his head in frustration, wanting to skip over this issue.
It was just too fantastical, and the answer was hard to find.
"Let's talk about him instead."
Pointing at the other Wang Hu on the hospital bed, Yang Wei decided to cut straight to the main subject.
"He is the adopted son of the Wang family's Second Elder, who was ordered by the elder to join Celestial Being and become a reserve Gundam pilot."
"Later, when his memories resurfaced, he chose to become a member of the Homeworld. Just as he was about to begin taking action..."
"It seems Veda noticed the anomaly during his memory recovery and arranged a loyalty test, which ended in an accident, resulting in his current state."
"Understood."
Wang Hu thoughtfully observed this unlucky version of himself in this world. While he wouldn't classify his starting situation as hellish difficulty...
Having to operate under the surveillance of the quantum computer Veda right from the beginning was certainly not an ideal start.
No sooner had he wanted to take action and before he could even begin to pursue his ambitions, he ended up in this miserable state.
The quantum computer Veda, or rather that frozen specimen Aeolia, were far from benevolent figures.
While they preached about eradicating human conflict and caring for humanity's future...
Their actual methods were no different from forcing a bull's head down to drink water.
They operated under the banner of acting in your best interests, but if you dared deviate from their predetermined path...
Then sorry, but they would make you experience the majesty of the iron-fisted benevolent father.
Over the past two hundred years, how many scientists had been secretly executed?
How many scientific technologies had been castrated by Celestial Being?
While his native CE world flourished with diverse technological developments, this world stubbornly clung to a single solar power generation system.
What's the deal? Did they genuinely believe this highly restrictive technology could truly help humanity advance into space?
Setting other issues aside, just consider the power output and transmission problems.
By completely abandoning nuclear energy development, did they intend to confine human activity permanently within the Earth Sphere?
Or were they planning to tow spaceships with cables stretching thousands of miles?
Don't even mention environmental pollution and fossil fuel shortages - claiming solar elevators were the best solution.
There are always more solutions than problems. As long as humanity faces problems head-on and wants to solve them, solutions can always be found.
Not to mention you had nearly completed the theoretical foundation for Solar Furnaces back then - you could have selflessly shared this knowledge widely.
What?
The manufacturing environment for Solar Furnaces is quite demanding?
Requires massive resource investment?
Are you suggesting the consortiums you approached could be stronger than nations capable of moving mountains and draining seas?
Ultimately, it all came down to selfish motives.
You wanted to become the god of the new world!
"Alright, I basically understand. So what should I do next?"
After sorting out the basic situation, Wang Hu turned to ask Yang Wei if he had any plans or suggestions.
"Your identity in this world, besides being the Wang family's Second Elder's adopted son, also includes previous service as a Human Reform League soldier."
"The Wang family holds considerable influence within the Human Reform League, making it a suitable entry point."
"Alternatively, you could directly approach the Human Reform League's leadership - it really depends on your preference."
"However, I wouldn't recommend this approach. Celestial Being's infiltration throughout this world is extensive, extremely extensive."Although the Human Reform League situation is relatively better, we can't completely rule out the possibility of moles lurking in high positions.""
"If information leaks, whether to the consortiums backing Celestial Being or if they forcibly unite the AEU and Union to create incidents in the future..."
"Or perhaps Celestial Being has gone underground, wanting to infiltrate other worlds through the Homeworld just as they've infiltrated this one—either way, it's troublesome."
Having spent some time in this world, Yang Wei clearly had a sharp understanding of its dynamics.
Though he nominally positioned Wang Hu as the lead with himself in a supporting role, his pragmatic advice had already charted the essential course.
"I see. Before cleaning up the rats in my own world, I'll need to practice on the ones in this world first."
Wang Hu chuckled and readily agreed, then immediately followed up with another question.
"So, how much does Veda know about this guy, and how much does the Wang family's Second Elder know?"
"Limited. Veda only considered his loyalty insufficient, and after the incident, they directly sent him back to the Wang family's Second Elder."
"Actually, if not for the Wang family's influence and their seat within Celestial Being, standard procedure would likely have been disposal."
"So, you just need to pretend you've just woken up."
Yang Wei, who had now become part of the Homeworld, winked at Wang Hu, indicating that this was familiar territory for him.
No need for further explanation, right?
"Alright."
Seeing that the matter was settled and there was nothing more to discuss, Wang Hu gestured for Yang Wei to move the person on the bed.
Whether taking him back to the Homeworld or sending him somewhere else was fine.
He could handle the rest—no need for the old man to trouble himself further.
Seeing this, Yang Wei didn't elaborate. He directly hoisted the ailing Wang Hu onto his shoulder.
Then, he opened the Light Gate and prepared to leave, though not without a mischievous grin on his face before departing.
"Just a heads-up—there's a surprise."
"If the Homeworld didn't have restrictions preventing direct healing, this opportunity wouldn't have fallen to you."
"A surprise?"
Wang Hu was taken aback and was about to ask what kind of surprise when a flood of memories from this world's Wang Hu rushed in.
Even after filtering out the irrelevant details, the memories still overwhelmed him, making his head spin.
Soon after arriving in this world, Wang Hu passed out on the sickbed.
By the time he woke up again, aside from a few doctors in white coats, there was no sign of that scoundrel Yang Wei.
"Quite the surprise indeed."
Glancing at the doctors who showed no joy upon his awakening, their expressions stern, Wang Hu muttered under his breath.
"Young Master Wang Hu, we're glad to see you awake."
"The master is waiting for you."
Similar to Wang Hu's initial arrival in the CE world, perhaps aware that he might be falling out of favor within the Wang family,
or perhaps due to special instructions from someone, it was unusual to rush someone who had just awakened from a vegetative state to meet guests.
Yet, Wang Hu was promptly pulled out of bed.
After a quick wash-up, he was soon led into the reception room.
Upon entering, Wang Hu glanced at the elderly man leaning on a cane, his hair silver, half his face bandaged.
He bowed respectfully and said,
"Grandfather Wang Long, I apologize for disappointing you."
His demeanor was exactly the same as the original Wang Hu, with both his tone and body language being remarkably lifelike.
After greeting his nominal grandfather, Wang Hu took a deep breath of the cold air.
He turned and nodded toward the girl sitting on the other side, as well as the person standing behind her.
"Wang Hu, I'm here to break off the engagement."
Quite straightforward, after the formal courtesies were exchanged.
With her hair in twin tails and wearing a well-tailored cheongsam, the girl named Wang Liumei already displayed a beauty at a young age that would one day topple cities and kingdoms.
Between the parting of her lips, she stated her purpose for coming.
