As one of the very few humans—perhaps the only one in this world—with extensive experience fighting dinosaurs, Batman had never feared such prehistoric creatures.
Although The Lizard was not a dinosaur, he was increasingly relying on his thick, powerful legs for stability and his long, heavy tail for balance. Combined with the sharp claws on his forelimbs and a maw full of jagged fangs, the distinction between him and a dinosaur was becoming negligible.
However, Batman did not employ his anti-dinosaur tactics against The Lizard simply because he possessed the experience.
He refrained because, at this very moment, more and more reptiles were crawling out of the East River, converging from all directions toward the central area of Bat-Island.
"Batman, previously these reptiles were only attracted by pheromones and showed no physical changes. But now it's different. Some of them are showing trends of evolving into a lizard-like form, and their body mass is gradually increasing."
Dr. Otto spoke rapidly over the Arkham Suit's communication channel:
"Most of the reptiles are dying on the spot after their bodies begin to change; I estimate their internal energy isn't sufficient to support the evolution... but some haven't stopped."
"I predict that within two minutes and forty seconds, they may be influenced by The Lizard to transform into creatures similar to lizard-men."
"Batman, you need to subdue The Lizard within one minute. Otherwise, I cannot predict what will happen."
While Dr. Otto was speaking, Batman was already in motion.
The micro-sensors on Bat-Island were transmitting data not only to South Brother Island but also directly into the Arkham Suit.
Combining Dr. Otto's analysis with the data received by the suit, Batman knew he had to race against time.
Strand after strand of dense webbing shot rapidly from Batman's wrists.
These webs had been swapped for earth-yellow and grey-green variants to suit jungle combat on the island. As more and more webbing flew out, it formed clumps and nets, flying toward The Lizard and into the surrounding woods.
In the span of a dozen seconds, Batman focused solely on dodging The Lizard's attacks, using the brief windows of time to rapidly weave a massive, resilient web.
Several tough, non-adhesive silk lines extended from this web, firmly gripped in Batman's hands. The web was a massive trap, waiting for the prey to take the bait so it could be ensnared.
"You only have one minute! Forty-one seconds remaining!" Dr. Otto shouted urgently.
Batman did not appear flustered by Dr. Otto's prompting; he remained perfectly calm.
Holding the lines extending from the web in one hand, Batman turned sideways to dodge the gaping, bloody maw The Lizard lunged at him. He slid directly under The Lizard's belly.
Before The Lizard's terrifying jaws could snap shut, Batman had already rolled into a standing position, planted his feet firmly on the ground, and drove his right fist violently upward.
Boom!
Amidst the muffled sound of impact, The Lizard's body tilted, his feet leaving the ground for a brief moment of suspension.
Weight far exceeds the estimate for this body size. This indicates The Lizard's epidermal keratin layer is extremely thick, and his muscle and bone density are far beyond human.
That punch had utilized less than ten tons of force. Batman watched as The Lizard adjusted his balance the instant he went airborne, whipping his tail—covered in hideous bone spikes—viciously toward him.
Estimated weight: approximately three tons.
Facing the lizard tail that compressed the air and brought a gale-force wind with it, Batman did not dodge or evade. He thrust both hands out, catching the tail squarely.
Crash!
Batman's body could withstand the force—The Lizard's strength had multiplied even as his size had compacted, estimated now at around twenty tons.
But while Batman could withstand it, the ground beneath his feet could not.
Under the force of the tail whip, the earth beneath Batman exploded inch by inch. The soil at the core point of impact was excessively compressed and tamped down, leaving clear footprints as Batman lifted his feet.
Crack!
The Arkham Suit also failed to withstand the force; parts of the armor immediately fractured, shattering into pieces that fell to the ground.
This wasn't because the Arkham Suit was fragile. Part of the reason it shattered so easily was that it had already sustained significant damage from the drag force caused by the Batwing towing Batman at full speed from the abandoned shipyard.
Unlike Gotham, the Arkham Suit is increasingly unable to meet the combat needs of New York. After resolving the issue with The Lizard, I need to upgrade the suit.
This thought flashed through Batman's mind, and then the muscles in his arms suddenly surged with power.
His hands, which had caught The Lizard's tail, did not let go. As he exerted force, his well-trained, developed muscles bulged high, completely tearing apart the already battered arm gauntlets of the Arkham Suit.
A crisp sound of fracturing bone came from The Lizard's tail. Batman gripped the tail with both hands, shifted his footing, and turned his back, hoisting the tail onto his shoulder.
Then came a shoulder throw of immense power and heavy momentum—enough to shatter a normal person's internal organs and pop their eyes from their sockets in an instant!
Wearing the Arkham Suit, the six-foot (1.8 meters) tall Batman appeared relatively petite compared to The Lizard.
But the unreasonably powerful strength of Peter Parker's body—especially the strength that had been continuously and scientifically trained by Batman—ruthlessly hurled The Lizard away.
Batman's breathing didn't even quicken by a hair.
With a loud boom, The Lizard crashed heavily onto the ground. Immediately following the impact, three rapid beeping sounds rang out from beneath his body.
Boom!
Another explosion. When Batman had slid under The Lizard's belly moments ago, he had deftly attached three micro-mines. Triggered by the massive impact, they detonated, blasting The Lizard's body slightly into the air again.
At the exact moment The Lizard's body bounced up, Batman, who had kept a firm grip on the web lines the entire time, gave a violent yank!
The earth-yellow and grey-green web immediately contracted, covering The Lizard and netting him completely.
"Roar!"
Hit by one heavy blow after another, The Lizard couldn't help but roar. The sound was full of vigor, showing no trace of injury.
The presence of thick scales gives The Lizard extremely high resistance to blunt force trauma. I need to use other means to subdue him quickly.
Batman had no time to calculate how much force or how many punches it would take to knock The Lizard unconscious.
"Seven seconds left!" Dr. Otto shouted anxiously.
Seeing The Lizard trapped, Batman rapidly pulled out the serum prepared by Professor Morbius—the metal syringe.
Gripping the syringe in one hand, Batman ruthlessly clenched his other hand into a fist and smashed it into The Lizard's head.
"Hiss!"
The Lizard subconsciously opened his mouth to threaten him, but Batman, with sharp eyes and quick hands, reached into the maw, grabbed The Lizard's tongue, and yanked it out. He plunged the syringe viciously into the root of the tongue.
