C104: End to it all Pt11, Blade of the Eclipse
Reading Dungeon Crawler Carl so much that its affecting my writing speed (making me slower). So good, just about done with book 3 and will soon get book 4,5 and 6 (library). and I only started reading it last week. whooowee its been a banger. Even getting some ideas of potentially writing a fanfic for it. What yall think on that?(Genuine question). I personally own the first book so I can easily take care of the introduction fairly well. Though this would probably be another book that I do on the side and only release on Patreon until I write a good amount of. maybe discord too since this book would be one that I would officially post on WN and my other sites like SpaceBattles.

Mergo's Wet Nurse is a disembodied spirit that hides underneath a really long cloak that is torn around the back to grant it cloth-like wings and. It possesses multiple arms that seep out from under the cloak with four curved blades that resemble the hunter's Burial Blade which is a curved sword in its normal state while being a scythe in its trick state.
What is strange is that the Nurse has four blades but three sets of arms, aka 6 hands but again, only uses four swords. I can only wonder the reason for it but not for very long.
The fight starts off instantly after Mergo finishes speaking. If he is saying anything more then I wouldnt know as his lengthy speech has made my [Translation] to run out.
I take up my saw cleaver and Holy Moonlight Greatsword, one in each hand to cross block the first blade coming at me from Mergo's Wet Nurse.
It becomes a contest of Strength that I quickly am forced to fail at. What with a second and third blade coming at my waist. I have to dodge by jumping and twisting my waist to the side, horizontally even. Yet this causes the first blade which was locked onto my own weapons to push me away. It seemed to hope to angle its curved sword to come down onto my skull and crush me immediately.
But I use a burst of wind on my legs to send me upside down over our locked blades. I stack my Rage of the Titans skill on my body and kick the Nurses head. Or at least the top of the bejeweled cloth where the head would be.
The nurse is knocked back and its final arm tries to swipe upwards at me but I use my two blades which are now stabbed into the ground from when I trapped the first blade to push myself back as well. The sudden jump would cause me to land on my stomach which would not be good since being prone causes all melee attacks to land on me with Advantage.
I shake my shoulders downward so that when I land, the force directed downwards into my elbows would jump me up a bit so that I could regain my footing at the same time that two blades, one from left and the other from right try to stab into me.
I bend down under the sword stabbing over my back and while I sense that the remaining two are coming at me a moment after the first set of strikes. I use my now trained puppet-like movement to have my sword strike the ground and lift me high up, above the incoming second sweep while my saw cleaver swipes at the retracting arm of the nurse.
Like a clown in a circus, I bounce, spin and twirl around the Wet Nurse. Landing blow after blow with apparent ease but only because any blow from the Boss would nearly bisect me. Even a glancing blow could very well cut off limbs. I know cause I got one on my leg at the front which nearly separated from my body near my ass if I didn't summon a stone pillar to shoot out and strike the blade arm and halt it's movements.
I had to spend quite a few minutes to dodge any extra blows while my passive regen re-attached my leg. I even made an earthly cast around the injury to hold it in place so it could heal smoothly. I am very upset since firstly, it hurt like shit and secondly. It's ruining my clothes.
I am quickly forced to use the third neutral chaos effect on myself through my 'pocket cast' (self chaos spell) as Mergo's Wet Nurse rushes at me with a flurry of blows that would tear me apart. This was one of the Nurse's most scary attacks even in game and with the nurse being so much larger than normal. It is plenty scarier.
As the chaos spell falls over me. My movements are accompanied by a sense of lightness in all that I do. What would be one step transforms into three. It's not spacial jumping or anything like that.
It's just [Zero G].
The release of Gravity itself is splendid, it causes me to float about with every action after all, every force is met with an equal and opposite reaction. I swing out with a heavy strike and I fly away if I don't attack behind me shortly after. That or use magic to tether myself down and about which makes my movement even more eccentric as I can attack from any direction.
I also pair this with the [Rough to silk] chaos spell which I have to manually cast while out of range of the Boss so im the sole beneficiary and thus my actions turn even better as I land injury after injury on the boss and after a few minutes. My leg is finally healed while both the gravity spell and Silk spell also collapse.
My landing is smooth as I had already predicted this and made the necessary preparations for landing, only to commit to a set of splits to dodge the rushing Nurse who has grown very agitated over the course of the fight.
"SHHHHINNNK" A strange screech is emitted by the Wet Nurse before balls of light gather around it's 2 unarmed hands which it slams down 4 times, for each blade where they are now coated in a cursed bloody light as if chunks of flesh were being created by each blade before sliding off the blade.
Those chunks land on the ground, leaving blots of blood and gore on the ground only to later turn to wisps of bloody air that vanish. It is reabsorbed into the blades to continue the cycle of blood and gore, spreading the bloody taint all over the floor and distant stone walls.
"Thats cool. I can do that too but it's much less efficient for me since I don't have an infinite supply of energy like you." I say as the Wet Nurse swipes it's blade and unleashes an aura strike. I dodge out of the way where it slices into the wall and leaves a clean cut all the way through while dyeing it red.
"Oh hey Excalibur. That's not cool, you're not the Primed original." I compare the usage of its power which is totally not innovative here.
[System Rebooting]
"Oh joy, just in time" I mildly retorted before dodging another set of aura waves coming at me which come at me in a Cross shape with one angled strike to block off all avenues for me to escape except two square areas in the corner of the crosses.
The other alternative would be to get a close shave in between the blades that cuts off all possibilities of escape in the midst of it all. There are multiple places I could try to escape through if I took this path but the risk is too great but there is an alternative to all this.
That alternative is to use my Fourth Neutral Chaos Spell by the name of [Division] which is a cloning spell but not quite.
It's better to call it Astral Projection rather than clones though even that isn't quite right. I 'split' myself into multiple selves that each have their own fragment of memory of the original. Any damage done is equally shared between the clones rather than causing them to dissipate or anything like that.
Due to the memory split, it's hard for the multiple versions of me to fight together in a coordinated manner. To counter this, I had mentally reinforced myself to think of simple things like commands and tasks me and the other versions should undertake once the split occurs.
As the spell takes effect, the Nurse Brings down all four blades down to split me apart via the laser blow but I actually split apart by the spell instead. One shoots out into the air and one more splits into both the left and right direction for a total of three of me.
"Tasks?" The left side calls out in confusion (call them LS for short) The right side one (RS for short) calls out in conjunction. "Left Side blocks blades. I'll defend the middle with you. Middle…Smash" RS of me got all the major commands I saved to myself before the split.
LS runs forward at a curve, holding the Saw Cleaver in it's hands as it engages with the Wet Nurse, keeping it distracted by infusing mana into itself to make up for the stat split as with the exception of mind (aka mana), all the clones have around 40-60 points in all stats which is around mid game level points. Still doable but a lot weaker than is required for a boss of this level that has already been boosted to lore accurate power.
LS keeps The Nurse's attention as a human meatshield, RS acts as a momentary distraction to support LS using his Moonlight Greatsword while MS fully focuses on damage as it first dropkicks the Wet Nurse in the 'head' and then uses some spinning momentum to slash at the boss with its bare arms reinforced only by mana to act as a knife.
With this combination of techniques and actions, we make up a party of fighter, rogue and monk that is pinning down this 'big bad' in place. Due to this and since all three deal some form of damage, the Boss isn't able to properly strike out at any of them as there are always two that are holding it back from attacking. Its knockoff Exalted blade soon runs out and all three of me use mind magic to communicate amongst ourselves to coordinate a proper blow against The Nurse.
[System awakening. Hello Host. Oh they're three of you]
"You're late" x 3. All three versions of me call out verbally in unison. At the same time, MS gets access to Null and charges it up before he and RS strike out at the same arm, striking it from two different sides with similar but different types of force but crushes the arm under Nulls blunt weight before the serrated blades kick in and begin to tear while the greatsword in RS's hands was already slicing through said arm.
The two blades collide in the middle as the first of four blade hands is chopped off. RS goes ahead and stores said arm and blade into the inventory while MS continues downward to strike at the next arm below the first.
"GAH" All three of me gurgle out as The Nurse simply punches MS in the throat with its upper free hand on that side of its body. All three move away from the boss so that we can recover with LS recovering first and retaking its duty of gathering Aggro.
RS attempts to rejoin the fold but has to dodge alongside LS from the Resident Evil 1 movie laser trap. With one less arm, there are more openings for the two versions of me to dodge through.
MS who took the direct blow had the hardest of it as while the injury was split between the trio, Ms retained the larger portion of it. (LS= 33%, RS= 33%, MS =34%). Thankfully magic is a thing and a simple wind bubble bursting beside him allows MS to escape the incoming laser show completely.
Though the timer for [Duplicate] will soon end so 'we' need to deal a bit more damage while we can. The trio of me rush forward once more but MS changes places with LS who also changes places with RS so it's now the greatsword which is landing the majority of the blows. The elemental damage is far more effective and basic serration like the saw cleaver. Even the greater serration offered by Null would be less impressive than the straight Bolt damage of its predecessor, the Tontritus in this scenario.
The shift in formation does throw Mergo's Wet Nurse off but only for a moment as it has gradually learned our pattern, even with a shift in position it only took a few minutes to get its bearings and it got two of me in an unfortunate position where MS and LS both ran out of stamina at the same time.
Unleashing another multiple bladed laser barrier, it comes flying at the two of me while RS lands one last blow on The Nurse's head before jumping backwards in a backflip. We reach out our arms towards each other as the laser comes flying in at the duo.

At the same time as the trio of me reach out to each other and turn into motes of light, The Nurse's health finally ticked down to a third of the original. The remaining 5 hands of the Nurse come together with a bloody light encompassing its whole body. The three blades shimmer as they turn liquid and melt together. Even the stolen fourth blade appears and joins the other in melting.
The Nurse's cloth-like wings swoop in and cover its whole body from view. At the same time, the trio that made up my body had turned to beams of purple light and rushed toward each other in the epicenter of their relative location, they merged back together into a single 'me'. The laser attack completely missed me as it was moving in a different direction.
I land on the ground, crouching a bit to stabilize myself and my current physical and mental status. The injury on my neck is roughly half healed. I could heal but it should only take about another minute to fully do so anyways.
For now, I rise and brandish Null and the Moonlight greatsword. Null I mentally trigger to start the engine while swiping the greatsword to trigger the moonlight state. I swipe both weapons out in an x shape. Bolt on my left, arcane on my right and the remnant aura of purple chaos behind me as I stare down the Boss.
A surge of darkness sweeps out from the Wet Nurse as the shining blood moon gains an additional red ring around the edge of it. The moon's light dims as true darkness reduces all light to not but a spark. I see the previous four blades have merged into one. A sizable Shotel of metallic flames sprouting from the back edges of the blade. A heavy hook-like blade makes up the pristine edge.
"Game recognizes Game. I didn't know you could aura farm too?" I chuckle as I stand alone, a single beacon of light in the endless darkness of the Eclipse.

Search up Elden Ring Eclipse Shotel if you want to see what the nurse's weapon looks like but it's essentially a half moon sword attached to a handle with flames made of metal rising along the outer blunt edge of the blade. In ER, the blade was able to cast a skill called Death Flare which causes a blast of yellow black fire which can proc death blight. But that Elden Ring, you don't have to worry about that here. There's no Death Blight in BloodBorne.
