The full moon hung brightly in the sky, casting its faint silver glow over everything on earth, accompanied by countless stars that shimmered quietly above.
"Just when exactly are we going to get there?"
Gabe's voice broke the silence after what felt like forever. He stirred awake from his deep sleep, blinking slowly as he tried to regain his bearings.
He didn't even remember when he had fallen asleep. The journey had been long—long enough to drag him into unconsciousness without warning. Fred, who had been fast asleep beside him, stirred almost immediately when Gabe woke, rubbing his eyes groggily.
"We're already here," Alex replied calmly.
That single sentence made both Gabe and Fred turn their gazes toward the window. Beyond the glass, a tall, imposing building came into view just as the car passed through large iron gates.
"Welcome to the vacation house," Alex added as the car finally came to a smooth stop in front of a magnificent structure.
