Hades watched her face.
Flushed with desire, blushed with hope, and fear etched the inner corners of her eyebrows even though she pretended as if she wouldn't let his words hurt him.

He wasn't a foolish man who couldn't take a hint. He could tell what Evangeline wanted from him was an answer that would determine her feelings for him. But when he thought about love, only one answer surfaced and that was impossible. He thought about it, really thought about it but all he could feel was a deep void inside his heart that enlarged.
