"Morning star?"
A faint scoff nearly escaped Hades at the name. He leaned back slightly, one brow raised in disbelief before glancing toward Victoria, who merely shrugged as though the matter hardly interested her anymore.
"It's a gemstone owned by the royal family," she explained. "I already told Evangeline the story behind it, though I doubt you would know much about it considering the information was mostly kept among the royals."
"Morning Star?" Hyperion repeated slowly.
Victoria turned toward him immediately. "You have heard of it before, tutor?"
Hyperion smiled at her gently, the same soft expression he always wore whenever the younger children approached him. There was something strangely paternal about the way he looked at them, even if Victoria was old enough to look at him in the eyes, even if she was not his true daughter.
"Yes," he answered after a pause. "Though it is not a gemstone."
The room immediately fell quiet.
