DOMINIC
I couldn't sleep. Harper was at home now, safe and sound, yet the thoughts didn't relax me.
The way her eyes refused to meet mine, the tears in hers, and then the bruise on her cheek…I kept thinking about all of that. She could have hit her face on the wall. I mean, Harper was clumsy, but this looked like more than her being clumsy.
With her lies and her friend's hanging in the air, the situation was much worse.
I rose from the bed, walking to the window. I peered outside, lost in deep thoughts. Did she really do all that she was accused of in Helix Biotech?
Obviously, the one from GenVanta was a lie. Someone was trying to frame her because Harper was always with me. Still, that didn't even explain how her face still showed in the damned Camera. Some manipulation might have happened here and there, but whoever did such a thing must be highly skilled. But why Harper?
