As soon as Harper left, I turned to Rafael.
"What do you mean you didn't poison her children? If you didn't, then who did? And how did you end up with her daughter? I know for a fact that little girl wouldn't have left the room on her own."
Rafael shrugged, completely unfazed by the seriousness of the situation. I almost wished I could shoot him just to stop that damned shrug, if only to make him take me seriously.
"How would I know if she didn't leave on her own?" he retorted. "Maybe she got bored watching the new man her mother is running around with. Perhaps she wanted to meet her real father."
He pointed at me. "You."
I ignored him. I didn't even want to think about his words for more than a second. He was a sick, twisted man.
Now that Lila was safe and gone, I could leave too.
"She inherited your stubborn streak," I said coldly. "I hope you don't think she's going to back down from taking you to court."
Rafael snickered.
