HARPER
I couldn't sleep.
It wasn't only because my thoughts kept circling back to my children, even though the doctor had assured me again and again that they were out of danger and there was no reason to panic.
It was Dominic.
I turned over in bed, staring at the open window, my gaze fixed on the moonlight spilling into the room and illuminating half the floor.
As soon as we got home, Lila had finally told me what she and Dominic talked about. A father and daughter conversation that should never have existed.
I couldn't understand how she had reached that conclusion. Whether she truly believed Dominic was her father or it had simply been a childish guess. Either way, it worried me.
And I hated that I hadn't stayed long enough to hear what Dominic intended to say to her.
I wondered what he was thinking now. If he actually believed Lila was his daughter or if he had only played along because she was a child.
