"Mother will be here in a few minutes. I'll be right out," Alexander kissed Adrian's forehead as he sat on the bed and walked into the bathroom.
The sound of the shower running in the ensuite bathroom was a rhythmic, cold counterpoint to the raging heat in Adrian's chest.
