Chapter 62 - [62] Setting the stage, the start of the festival

By 8:00, Kyle was at the café to pick up Akiko and Sakura who were already waiting for him.

Because of how large the event was going to be, Kyle had gone all out in his preparations.

There were ten improvised food trucks parked outside the cafe, each of them filled with tons of drink supplies as well as ingredients for making snacks.

There were also two buses housing about fifty parttimers, from barristers to bakers down to regular servers.

The cafe had struck a mega deal, and as such they had to make the appropriate preparations to meet the demand.

This way, Sakura could focus on admin work while Akiko could focus mainly on creating the drinks and snacks.

They even made the rooster such that they had a few breaks to allow them watch the matches as well.

"Are you guys ready?" Kyle asked as he started the engine.

Sakura was seated in the front seat, while Aliko and a new partimer, sat in the back.

Akiko nodded, tucking the café key into her bag. "Yes, I think we have everything."

"Alright then."

Kyle pulled into the morning traffic, his GPS mapping out the route to UA.

•••

After about fifteen minutes of driving, Kyle arrived at the front gates of UA, and did a little security check before they were allowed to enter.

From his car, he could see the iconic towering "H" structure, the thousands of windows reflecting the sun like diamonds.

"Wow… so this is UA." Sakura smiled and peaked her head out of the window, her eyes moving from one structure to the other.

Most children, if not all had the dream of becoming heroes, but when they were either quirkless like Sakura…

Or when their quirks were incredibly weak, they had to accept the glaring reality that they would never be heroes.

Because UA was such a highly restricted place, normal people rarely had a chance to enter it, so this was the first time she was having a good look at the academy.

Akiko and the part timer also had their eyes glued to their windows, a faint smile on their faces as they took in the sight.

Kyle drove for a few minutes and arrived at the stadium they would be using for the festival.

The big three were already there, waiting for them as they arrived.

"Good morning!" Nejire beamed as they got out of the car. "You guys are pretty early."

Mirio greeted them as well, offering Kyle a handshake as he walked up to them, while Tamaki politely nodded when his eyes met Sakura's, before looking away.

"We can't afford to be late can we? We need to set up before the festival starts."

Nejire nodded enthusiastically and slung her arms over both Kyle and Sakura's shoulders.

"Let's get going, the event starts in an hour!"

Akiko turned to the small army of parttimers and clapped her hands. "Alright, today is going to be hectic, you might seem many, but there will be thousands of people in attendance."

"You need to be sharp, diligent and hardworking if we don't want to fail boss Kyle, is that understood?"

"Yes ma'am!!"

Akiko's face was stoic, displaying little emotion, but inside…

'Awww, they called me ma'am! Hehehe!'

She cleared her throat. "Ten of you come with me for the tour, the rest of you begin setting up!"

"Yes ma'am!"

Nejire went on to give them a detailed tour of the stadium, from the rest areas, to the main stage, down to even the vip rooms.

Since they were serving drinks and snacks, they needed to know every nook and cranny of the stadium.

The entire tour of the building, coupled with the time it took them to set up, took about an hour, and by the time they were done, the festival had begun.

They exchanged contacts in case there was any problem along the way, and then the big three turned around to leave.

"Good luck today, do your best!" Nejire waved as they went their different ways.

Sakura turned to Kyle as they began walking. "So what should we do first?"

"Let's make sure everything is set up right, after that we can decide whether to watch the festival or join Akiko."

Sakura nodded and they began their inspection.

First, they went to the stands where the crowd was. Already, nearly every single chair was filled, thousands of spectators cheering as present Mic took the stage.

He grabbed the microphone, the thousands of stadium speakers working to enhance his quirk even further.

"ARE YOU READYYY?????!" His voice engulfed the area, reverberating throughout the stadium.

The crowd erupted in cheer, their enthusiasm earning up to the atmosphere.

"WELCOME!!! TO THE ONE, THE ONLY, UA SPORTS FESTIVALL!"

Present mic smiled, hands in the air as he reveled in the crowd's cheer.

"The sports festival will consist of three main events!"

He then went on to detail every single event that would happen for the three days the sports festival would hold.

It was just like Kyle remembered from the anime. First was the obstacle course meant to test the student's girth and thin out their numbers.

Second was the team based Calvary battles, and finally, the tournament, which was the highlight of the arc would begin.

As the students began filtering into the arena to start the obstacle course, Kyle smirked, as he watched them.

'All these wonderful quirks… surely, they wouldn't mind if I took a few…'

The first thing on his mind was Business, that is what they were here for. But Kyle could not pass up on such a golden opportunity.

There were a few quirks that would be nice if he got, while they were some that he needed to get at all costs.

Eijiro Kirishima, Red Riot.

Denki Kaminari, Chargebolt.

Toru Hagakure, Invisible girl.

They were quirks he wanted to get, but the one he needed at all costs was Hitoshi Shiso.

He had promised to help Tsumi solve her nightmares, and so far, his quirk was the only one remotely close to being useful.

"Kyle? We need to check the other areas." Sakura said while tapping his shoulder.

"Alright, let's go."

He stole one last glance at the stage before turning to leave.

He had to be patient.

Day three…

It was then he would make his move.

•••

Up in one of the VIP rooms, a striking woman was sitting cross legged, sipping on a glass of wine as she stared down on the events below.

She was in pure white clothing, and her stark white hair was packed up in a tight bun, leaving a few stray strands to caress her face.

The woman's gaze sharpened as she set down the cup on the stool beside her, her movements graceful.

Then she folded her hands across her ample chest and licked the crimson liquid off her lips.

"What do you think of the students, Gerald?"

Her butler bowed, staring at the ground as he spoke. "They all look magnificent, Madame."

The white lady laughed, her soft laughter filling the room.

Gerald stiffened.

"I guess even worms may look cute when they wiggle around in the mud. You may leave."

She picked up her binoculars and zoomed in on the stadium.

'Let the games begin.'
