A flurry of notifications flashed in Kyle's vision as he watched both girls with a wide smile on his face.
[You have received a talent ascension card]
[You have received a talent ascension card]
[You have sired two vampires]
[Your influence has increased noticeably]
Kyle mentally waved away the notifications. He already knew what they were so there was no need to linger on them.
What was right in front of him was better, far better.
'Just how powerful is that quirk?!'
Even from where Kyle stood, he could feel the searing heat lick his skin, the temperature in the room rising faster than they could keep track of.
Sakura's eyes were glowing like embers, only that they were violet, just like the fire she manipulated.
She stood her ground and swallowed, her heart racing with both excitement and awe as she smiled.
"Kyle! Are you seeing this?!" She laughed. "I have a quirk!"
She jumped in joy, fist bumping the air, but as a result, the fire was unleashed, the two calamitous balls blasting against the ceiling with a bang.
The room shook, but the walls held, a black scorch mark tainting the polished alloy.
"Woah…" Himiko stared at the ceiling, unblinking, then she gave Sakura a double thumbs up. "Nice!"
Sakura blushed and clasped her hands behind her back. "Hehe…"
"You did great, Sakura… your quirk is one of the best I've ever seen," Kyle said as he walked towards them.
"Really, is it that great?" Her blush deepened, her childish excitement in full swing. "It looks good, but I don't think it will be that great, there are tons of other great quirks out there."
"Well, yes, there are quite a lot…" Kyle was now standing next to Solvane, staring down at her petite frame.
"But your quirk is different. Out of all the quirks I've seen, yours might just be one of the most destructive."
It was just an early analysis, but Kyle was sure of it. Endeavour's flame quirk, for example, had high destructive power, but how would it fare against Sakura's compressed flames?
Kyle was itching to know.
As for his second vampire…
Solvane had finally come out of the reverie of her transformation, but she had not uttered a single word. She just kept her eyes on the floor.
"Solvane?" Kyle gently tapped her shoulder. "Are you alright?"
He had given her a few seconds to get acquainted with her new power, but she had spent enough time.
'Did something go wrong?'
Kyle was about to lean down to check her, but in the next second, Solvane lifted her head and met his gaze, which made Kyle's face harden.
Her eyes…
They were different.
Solvane's eyes had always been a little bit unnervingly beautiful, her dark pupils like a dark endless pit.
It was strange to think it could even become more eerie.
A dark ghostly aura was floating from her left eye like a dark mist, floating to the side like smoke.
The air around her seemed to shift, the shadows darkening around her ever so slightly.
Kyle suddenly had the odd feeling that he was being watched, multiple hidden eyes staring at him from all directions.
"Solvane?"
She bit her lip, her eyes wide but unnervingly unfocused. Although she was staring right at him, he was sure that she was not seeing him; she was seeing something else.
Solvane gulped, cold sweat running down her face.
"I was not sure at first…" she began, her voice filled with awe. "I thought I was dreaming, or it was a trance…"
Himiko tilted her head to the side. "Huh, what are you talking about?"
Solvane closed her eyes and lifted her hand—
Whoosh!
The shadows in the room stirred, and then a gigantic claw rose from the ground, appearing right in front of Himiko.
Himiko didn't move an inch. She was sure that Solvane would do nothing to harm her.
The shadow claw inched closer and brushed her hair to the side. Then Himiko pet the claw as though it were a dog.
'The show of power is amazing…' Kyle thought.
But that was not the point Solvane was trying to make. It was the fact that she had done it with her eyes closed.
Kyle's eyes narrowed.
Then Solvane smirked.
"I can see everything…"
She took a step forward and offered Kyle her hand, and the moment Kyle touched it, he gasped.
His vision darkened for a moment, and then when he regained his sight, everything was black and white.
"This is…"
Now he understood what she meant. From every hidden shadow at crooked corners, from the shadows cast by the light, and from the darkness nestling in the room…
Every single shadow in a 100 meter radius had become their eyes, and he could see through them.
It was overwhelming.
Solvane broke contact and stepped back, Kyle's regular vision returning to him.
He blinked and held his head while smiling, a light headache creeping in. Then he chuckled.
"Wow… you guys are on another level."
While Sakura had awakened a powerful offensive quirk, Solvane had awakened the ultimate scouting quirk.
Solvane smiled. "My quirk also feels much more powerful, although it will take some time before I will be able to use shadow sight properly."
Kyle nodded and glanced at the clock. It was 9:30, already pretty late.
'I should be able to squeeze in a few hours before Tsumi gets mad.'
He turned to the girls, Himiko included. "How about we test out your quirks?"
•••
Kyle was standing in a marked-out area of the gym, the place that he had prepared for sparring.
It was slightly elevated from the ground and was a little farther from where the equipment was, to avoid 'accidents.'
Standing opposite him was Sakura, who was looking very nervous as she stared at her opponent.
"Don't worry, I won't be fighting, I'll only defend against your attacks."
It was the perfect way to know how powerful their abilities were, and allow them to experience it without having to restrain themselves.
"The room can handle your quirks, feel free to go all out."
Himiko was sitting legs crossed, a small pack of popcorn—Kyle had no idea where she had procured it from—in her hands.
"Let's begin!" She mumbled with her mouth full.
Sakura adjusted her glasses, then summoned her fire. Two violet flames burst into reality, like burning comets, floating by her sides.
Kyle could already feel the heat, and yet Sakura, who was standing next to it, seemed perfectly comfortable.
"Are you sure about this?" She asked.
Kyle nodded.
"Hit me."
