Chapter 45 - Space.

It's been four months since Arthur talked to Sunny.

Sunny was now in his second nightmare, together with his companions.

Arthur, himself, after changing up the deal for more benefits, considering he was now a master, had joined the government.

It was interesting to work with different people, but Arthur was usually sent in solo if the gate crisis wasn't too severe.

Considering that more people usually hold him back.

He was now in one such crisis, saving people, slaying monsters. His other two companions, were both just awakened, but their aspects were designed to hold monsters off. This made it a lot easier for Arthur just to blast the stationary creatures away.

Blasting a worm-like creature out of existence, Arthur looked around, only to see the monsters all dead, most by his own two hands. Arthur himself has gotten a lot stronger over time. His core was filling up rapidly, and his aether control had improved a lot, since he now always wore the Djinn armor, which allowed him to refine Godstep to the next level. While it wasn't on the level of his duplicate in the second nightmare, and wouldn't be for a while.

He had still managed to finally grasp how to change directions rapidly, becoming nearly invisible due to the speed, barely leaving violet after images.

The ability also made Arthur an invaluable asset; his ability to respond to emergency calls was second to none.

He had also gained a lot of memories from the government, those being, an actual self-refilling wine glass, which refills with anything the user wishes for. Then he had gained a simple storage backpack memory, with a few enchantments on it for more space and durability.

His essence control has also skyrocketed. Arthur had learned how to infuse his own body with, and merging that with his augmentations and Djinn armor, made his physical prowess truly remarkable.

Arthur was sitting in his kitchen, waiting for his meal to be done cooking, when his communicator buzzed.

After checking it, Arthur groaned, turned off the oven.

He rose to his full form, memories already wrapping themselves around him in gold and violet sparks.

He let out a sigh and disappeared.

A few seconds later, he was on a battlefield, his Dawn's ballad already cleaving a disgusting creature in half.

Looking around he saw several awakened and even a few masters, which meant there was a good chance for a Tyrant. Arthur groaned again, merely shouting a warning to his peers, he augmented himself and the blade, extending it. The blade easily cleaved through a dozen of the awakened monsters, a few Demons as well.

A few more minutes of this past, the awakened merely resting, Arthur and the other Masters cutting down the numbers of the creatures.

Then Arthur saw a creature emerge from the gate, he immediately recognized the serpentine form of the creature.

It was the same salamander he met on the hollow mountains, the same one who nearly killed him.

But it was slightly different, it was larger, its scales were darker and thicker, and the flames it released upon seeing us were much, much stronger.

Most likely, I have a higher rank than Arthur has already met.

Arthur merely scoffed at the poor intimidation tactic of the creature, he augmented his blade with all three of his "embers" as Arthur started calling them.

Then he vanished, the same second he was at the side of the creature, its long neck already severed.

[You have slain an Awakened Devil, Serpentine Salamander.]

[Your destruction grows stronger.]

Arthur barely paid attention to the spell, his form already blurring through the creatures, easily severing their heads or merely obliterating their forms with a slight amount of destruction.

Then he felt it, a Tyrant had appeared.

Arthur turned his head, the large skeletal figure taking up nearly all of his vision.

The creature had a rough humanoid shape, all bones and skin, a dozen eyes all around its head. Pale skin, with blue veins running through its body.

Judging by its appearance alone, it would be an ice-type creature. Which was just fine for Arthur.

Soon Arthur met up with the other two Masters, the awakened being ordered to ensure the civilian lives.

"Any of you got anything against ice?"

It was a question, but sounded out more like a demand; the other two Masters shook their heads negatively.

Arthur merely scowled, his form blurring.

Then he vanished, a slice appearing on the creature, only for it to heal. The Dawn's Ballad's own once purple tint was replaced by a blue one, slowly starting to freeze.

Only for Arthur to envelope the blade in destruction, the ice shattering like it was nothing.

A grimace marred Arthur's face. He had already figured out how the creature fought; it was fought by doing nothing.

Because frankly, it didn't need to move, merely touching it would freeze most solid in a second, not to mention it did soul damage. His being bound with his blade told him enough, when he felt a slight sting in his soul.

This creature was dangerous.

All three Masters stood around the creature, making sure it didn't do anything; meanwhile, what remained of the civilians were led away by the awakened.

Arthur sighed once again, his now fully completed armor of destruction wrapping around the Djinn armor, making him look like a creature himself. Dawn's ballad was also enveloped by the destructive flames, and then Arthur channeled his essence through his body.

Waiting for a second, Arthur's from absolutely blurred, a slash appearing on the creature. Then another one and another one, just when Arthur was about to stab at the creature's head from behind, its form contracted, its head spinning around in a full 180°, sharp needle-like teeth aimed at his arm. Arthur vanished again, his eyes widened, his mouth opened as if to speak or shout something.

Because the creature had followed him, while he was using Godstep, which was not possible.

Arthur grimaced again, his annoyance now replaced by caution.

He walked around the creature in a wide circle, the other Masters already standing further at Arthur's own command.

Then Arthur flew towards the creature, and just as a giant skinny blue palm approached his form.

Destruction roared, the arm immediately retreating, then Arthur's form blurred, using godstep for pure speed and momentum, he extended his blade, violet flames still pouring out of him, like water from a waterfall, a small grin already forming.

Then he stabbed forward, the creature being intelligent enough to put its hand in front of it to block.

Then Arthur slipped, actually slipped, because the ground was now ice, his speed working against him, and he slid across the ground. One of the creature's arms fell to the ground, already being eaten away by destruction.

Then the creature screeched, Arthur's head spun, the degrading noise messing with his mind and balance.

Then it lunged, arm outstretched, having no choice, Arthur used Godstep, only for his path to be interrupted, by one of the giant legs of the creature.

Arthur tumbled across the ground, the other Masters prepared to enter the Frey, only for them to stop once they saw the full grin on Arthur's face.

They immediately stepped back, having already worked enough with him to know that it was a bad idea to stay close to him in such a state.

Arthur's head snapped towards the creature, his destruction helmet vanished completely, and a fanged grin met the creature's own emotionless face.

Then Arthur laughed, blurring again, and he aimed to appear just in front of the creature's head.

Only for the creature to move its head forward, Arthur's widened, madness replaced by fear.

Trying to stop Godstep while in the air wasn't possible, at least not yet, so Arthur just extended his blade; it was still covered with the aetherial flames.

The next second he was nowhere and everywhere.

He looked around, seeing everything and nothing.

His soul sched, his mind buzzed, the universal law of space working to understand the paradox.

Then, Arthur was back in the real world.

[You have slain an awakened Tyrant, Winter's pawn.]

[Your destruction grows stronger!]

[You have unlocked a legacy relic!]

Then Arthur collapsed.
