Reaching for her phone to turn on the flashlight, she froze. A soft glow flickered in the distance, barely illuminating the living room.
Her heart skipped a beat. Something, or someone, was there.
The dining room.
Before she could even move, a soft click sounded, then electric candles lit up one after another, creating a glowing path that stretched from the hallway straight to the dining room.
Olaedo paused.
Okay… that's not creepy at all, she thought, but her feet still followed the lights like they were part of some enchanted ritual.
When she stepped into the dining room, she froze.
Chibuzor stood there, dressed in sweatpants and a plain T shirt. Relaxed. Casual. Almost… normal. He looked nothing like the stiff, intimidating CEO who breathed board meetings for breakfast and constantly reminded her that she had to do everything right.
