She gave a small, approving nod and reached for her phone. She needed to call her assistant, clothes, hair, arrangements… everything had to be sorted.
But just before her thumb reached the call icon, Chibuzor spoke again.
"You don't have to make any preparations," he said quietly, almost casual. "I've already taken care of everything."
Her hand froze mid air.
She blinked. Once. Twice.
"Everything? The gift too?" she echoed.
"Yes. The gift I prepared," he said slowly. Then he hesitated, just for a second, like the next words required careful calculation.
Finally, he added, "It's from our… family."
He said it softly. No dramatic tone. But the word family dropped between them like a quiet, unexpected weight.
Olaedo didn't answer.
She couldn't.
Because suddenly she wasn't sure if this was still contract business… or if they had stepped into something else without realizing it due to the way he said it.
