After Calvin's car vanished into the sea of traffic, Everly made her way to a nearby dessert shop, a temple of sugar and cream calling to her soul. She stepped inside, immediately spotting the massive, towering parfait challenge advertised on a gaudy poster—the "Mount Everest Challenge," a parfait so colossal it came with a waiver and a free t-shirt if someone finished it.
Her eyes gleamed with predatory hunger.
She wanted it. She wanted it so badly.
But then reality crashed down like a bucket of cold water: Cassian could show up at any moment. There was no way she could tackle that monstrosity if he caught her mid-battle with a dessert the size of her torso.
With a heavy, mournful sigh, she settled for a normal-sized parfait instead, mourning the loss of her dream challenge.
She fired off a quick text to Cassian:
[Eating dessert at the shop near the KTV. Don't keep me waiting, or I'm ordering the giant one out of spite.]
