Chapter 19 - Esoteric (3)

Now that I looked at them, they look the same.

"Are you perhaps twins?" Wei An asked Zeno.

"Ah well, no, but we look really similar."

"I see."

Shin then joined the conversation, and Sylvia was just blissfully listening to them.

"What section are you guys from?"

"Ah, we're both from class A."

"I see, then shall we start discussing now that the introductions are done?" The members nodded, and Wei An just peacefully let Shin discuss the things.

Thankfully, he does the troublesome tasks.

"So what do you guys want to do? The professor said the harder the task, the better the grade."

"Well, you guys can pick. I don't mind at all."

"Right."

Shin gave an anxious smile at the response of the group members; it looked like no one was going to pick a task. He then looked at Wei An, who was staying silent.

Ha... great.

Before Wei An could refuse or say anything, Shin then gave him a warm smile.

"Young Master Wei An, would you like to pick? I'm sure our top-ranking student can make the best decision for the group."

This guy and his glib tongue.

"In my opinion, task 3 would be the easiest to get a high grade on; however, task 1 is the easiest to do."

"Hm, then what should we pick?"

Ha...Why is he making me pick?

"Task 3."

The other members looked surprised and a bit worried. The task wasn't an easy thing to do since creating a spell was almost impossible to do for a freshman. Shin, however, smiled at Wei An and then spoke again.

"Alright, task 3 it is then. Let's talk about it more after classes. It's better if no one hears our plans." The members nodded, agreeing to Shin's statement. After some time passed, the class was already over, and they, the group, headed to the library.

As they reached the library, they found a chair and discussed their task.

"So, anyone have a spell suggestion?" Shin started the conversation, looking at the members.

"Hm, the professor didn't say what grade, right? We can always make a low-grade spell." Sylvia spoke, and Zeno then also expressed his opinions.

"She's right; making a spell is harder than mastering it. Plus, at least 2 should be able to cast it."

"Hm, let's see. I'll assign tasks for everyone." Shin spoke again calmly, looking at everyone. "Wei An and I will make the spell. You three can practice casting it."

Wei An nodded with Shin's statement; he then spoke, "Wait, the professor didn't specify if the spellcaster can also be the spellmaker. Wouldn't it be easier to have the person making the spell cast it?"

"Hm... good point; however, let's have the three master it, just in case."

"Alright."

The group then discussed what element is best to make a spell with. They all chattered and made theories about the spell.

"Wait a minute, does anyone here have experience in making spells?" Shin asked the group, looking at everyone.

Ha... Well, if you count the original owner of this body, then I'd have experience. Not like I never made any spells back in my world.

...

Everyone looked at each other puzzled. Shin sighed at the sight and started to speak again, "Well, I have a bit of experience, though I'm ashamed to say I failed to make one."

"Well, if we're talking about that, then I know how, but it all fails." Zeno spoke up, trying to lighten up the atmosphere. Making a spell as a first year was something hard to do, especially since not many had experience in doing so.

"Umm... I don't know how to make a spell, but I know the different theories on how to make a spell. I've never tried it though." Zharia spoke up too, looking at everyone who seemed to calm down a bit.

Just then Sylvia sighed, then looked at Wei An, who was just staying silent in the group. "Hey, you, I get that you don't like socializing, but at least speak."

This bit—girl...

Wei An turned to everyone, looking serious; he then sighed and spoke up. "I have a spell in mind; however, it's hard to master."

"Oh? You should have said that earlier; it's fine if it's hard to master. We'll work as a group, remember?" Sylvia jokingly said.

"Alright, I and Wei An will discuss the spell; we'll have another meeting when it's finalized and ready for practice," Shin spoke again. Everyone there agreed and discussed a few other things before finally ending the meeting. They all said their goodbyes and made their way to where they had to go.

Ha... Well, I'll just leave the work to them. I can already cast the spell anyway.

Wei An made his way back to the dorms, opening the door to see the Bai Wang looking out from the balcony of the dorms.

"Hello."

"Oh, Human!"

"Mn, let's talk."

"Huh? Did I do something wrong?"

"No, no... just that, I've been thinking, would you like to sign a contract with me?"

"Oh! It's just that!"

"Mhm."

"Sure, human! I thought you were going to chase me away."

Ha... What is this kid thinking?

After a few seconds the fox held out its paw, touching Wei An's hand. The fur of the fox glowed for a short while as the contract was being done. After a minute or so, the contract was finalized, and there was a small mark on the fox's paw.

"Done!"

"I've been meaning to ask you, why'd you follow me?"

"Didn't we talk about this already, human?"

"Yes, but what's your real reason?"

"Hmph. You'll know when the time comes!"

The fox then proceeded to its bed, ignoring Wei An, who was staring at it. Wei An sighed, dropping the topic since it looked like the fox wasn't going to answer anyway. He then changed his clothes and sat down comfortably in his bed. After some time, the sunset had already set, and Wei An had already drifted to sleep.
