Lucien's POV
"Haa…" Lila sighed, grabbing a fistful of her hair.
"I hope this isn't bad," she muttered.
I had a feeling her hope wouldn't come true—but still I shouldn't panic. There may be other reasons.
"He may simply be checking on the progress of the plan," I said evenly. "It's been a long time since we last spoke."
I smiled, slow and deliberate. "So be calm. Besides, it doesn't matter if he suspects anything, I'll smooth things over."
She studied me. "You're awfully relaxed."
"Of course I am," I continued, my smile widening as a little plan I thought of started coming to life, "this could be an opportunity."
"An opportunity?" she echoed, confused.
"What better way to learn how to kill a fallen Archangel," I said softly, "than Heaven itself—the very place they were created?"
Her eyes lit up.
"There must be something in those ancient libraries," I went on, "or hidden within their sealed chambers. Knowledge that could serve our plans."
She looked at me, then smiled.
