Chapter 9 - A competition between children!

Without warning, she began to speak: "This is Hoku Uzumaki, he will be part of our classes and training from now on. Classes started just three months ago, so he will fit in well with the subjects. I hope everyone gets along well and treats him as they treat everyone else. You can sit wherever you feel comfortable."

Following Mulan's instructions, Hoku found a stone a little to the side of the class, neither too far behind nor too far in front of the other children.

She began to give a lecture on Fuuinjutsu and its uses, as well as the process by which Fuuinjutsu is formed.

"To form powerful and effective seals, one must write the specific symbols with precision, but that is not the only thing necessary. It is necessary to channel the chakra with precision so that it completely fills the form."

"At the beginner level, a special ink is used, which we call chakra ink, that retains our chakra in the figure, to be used when necessary. At a more advanced level, which I hope you all reach, it is possible to form seals using only chakra; these are stronger than normal seals, but only the truly proficient can do this, like the leader of our village."

She explained the concept well so the children could understand, while using an example known to everyone.

"Now, who among you can tell me what the classification is for Fuuinjutsu users?" "She asked, testing the students' knowledge, since she had already explained about this classification, and at the same time passing the information on to Hoku, who had not yet attended any lectures.

Seeing some of the children with their arms raised, Mulan pointed to a girl with a serious expression. She wore loose, comfortable clothes, a childlike cuteness that all children possessed. Even at six years old, she already had an elegant posture, befitting one of the most prestigious Uzumaki families within the clan.

"Yes, Mulan Sensei," said the little girl with the confidence of someone who studies hard.

"The classification of Fuuinjutsu specialists is as follows:

Apprentice;

Novice;

Intermediate;

Specialist;

Master;

Grandmaster;

And the classification that no one knows if it's true, but they say the clan leader achieved, the legendary classification of Sage."

"Very good Azula, right answer as always," Mulan praised one of the most dedicated students she had ever had.

Azula Uzumaki, with a slight blush on her face, almost imperceptible, but which Hoku and Mulan noticed.

After this question, the lecture resumed.

Thus passed another two hours, explaining about Fuuinjutsu, but also about ninja life, how to proceed in such a case, how all areas are essential, etc.

"Now we finally get to the event you've been waiting for, the fighting competition where you will only use your own body or some weapon." This competition was important because even the Uzumakis, specialists in seals, could not escape physical combat.

"We will have fights in a draw format, and to motivate you to give your best, the winner will receive a Fuuinjutsu manual, explaining the basics and some common seals," explained Mulan, wanting the children to do their best.

'If I could get a manual to learn "The basics would already be a great step forward in strengthening my foundation as soon as possible," Hoku thought, already imagining that even though he was younger, his experience and techniques would be enough to beat some children.

With that thought, he raised his hand, "Mulan-sensei, can I participate in the competition?"

Mulan was surprised, to say the least; she never expected that he, at two years old, would want to fight.

"Since you're in this class, you're eligible to participate in the training. But I don't advise it; everyone here is older than you and therefore has a stronger body than yours. It's better for you to wait about three years before you can start physical training," Mulan said, afraid that he would get hurt, because even as an Uzumaki, his body has limits.

"I can do it, Mulan-sensei, if it gets dangerous I'll give up," Hoku insisted.

"Well, if it gets dangerous I'll stop the fight myself. So I'll let you participate," Mulan agreed, aiming to let him experience defeat at this age so he wouldn't become too confident in the future and end up dying young.

"So who else will fight?" she asked, already preparing several numbers one and two inside a box she took from a storage scroll.

"ME!!"

More than thirty children answered, because even though there were fifty, not everyone liked to fight; some preferred to focus on Fuuinjutsu, like Azula, who, even though she could fight, preferred to stay out.

If it were a normal training session, everyone would be required to participate, but since it was a kind of mini-tournament, participation was optional.

"For the draw, each one picks a number; whoever gets two will fight the next person who gets two, and vice versa," and so the draw happened quickly without delay.

After a few moments, the first two students were already in position for combat, with the others around them.

Hoku will fight after five matches; until then, he will observe the others to see the level of strength they will show.

"Uzumaki Kaly and Hamtaro Usui, get ready for training," said Mulan, acting as the judge of this fight.

Both children were 6 years old. Kaly was a young girl with short red hair, with impressive drive. She was tall for her age and used a staff as a weapon.

Usui, on the other hand, was a striking young boy with spiky red hair. He was thinner with a body ready for speed, even though his last name isn't Uzumaki. The blood runs strong in his veins. His weapons were two short senbon needles, one for each hand.

Knowing that they could use weapons, they always preferred to use them instead of just their bodies, because as children, using weapons was superior to using their bodies.

Hoku was no different; he chose a normal sword, larger than his body—not that he wanted a weapon bigger than him, but he was small.

With the green light from Mulan, the children went into combat.

Kaly, being larger, didn't bother with feints, only attacking directly with brute force. Usui, on the other hand, used a delicate approach, and instead of facing him head-on, he made evasive maneuvers, taking advantage of his speed.

Kaly didn't have much technique but managed to gain an advantage with just her strength.

She started with a vertical strike with her staff, aiming to hit Usui's head.

Usui was faster and dodged to the side, taking advantage of the opening to flank Kaly.

Unlike the fights in Naruto, where there was a lot of talking, in the reality of the ninja world, even the children didn't speak; they only fought—it was just technique versus technique, each using their advantages to win.

Seeing this, Kaly quickly moved her staff to the side, blocking and trying to hit Usui.

He walked away because he couldn't gain an advantage.

And as they resumed fighting, the two charged at each other, the exchange of blows was impressive, for children it was impressive such technique and martial prowess.

But the fight stopped being partial, and Usui began to have the advantage since Kaly was being pressured because her fighting style depended heavily on hitting the enemy.

This advantage was seen when she attempted a thrust, but Usui used the opening to advance while dodging the blow.

He quickly approached Kaly, ready to finish the fight, but Kaly did something unthinkable, she dropped her weapon and faced the senbons with her bare hands.

The weapons weren't real, they were just imitations without the strength or piercing power of the originals, but they still hurt.

But without caring about that, she used her left arm to block one of the senbons while her right arm delivered a powerful punch.

Seeing this, Usui threw the card to the wind, and instead of dodging or blocking with the remaining senbon, he attacked back, aiming for the open points that were only the stomach, since she kind of instinctively didn't leave gaps in the most vital areas.

Thus, the two hit each other simultaneously, Usui had his head turned with a punch right on the chin, while Kaly had her stomach pierced, if the weapon had been pointed.

"End of the fight, the result was a draw since both were incapacitated. And if this were a real fight, both could have died," said Mulan, pointing out the mistakes of the two.

"I hope you learn from your mistakes, and that you stop having such suicidal ideas next time. Now let's go to the next fight," she said, continuing the competition.

The fights went on, and there wasn't one as impressive as the first, some even did well, but in Hoku's eyes only the first was interesting.

'If this were in my old world, she would be a berserker and he an assassin,' he thought, considering the classes humans possessed, which suited the fighting style of these children.

He had already thought about this, an idea emerging in his mind, one that could very well work if he put his mind to it.

"Next fight, Uzumaki Hoku versus Uzumaki Takami," Mulan called out the names, pulling Hoku from his thoughts, as he moved toward the center with a sword bigger than himself, ready to intimidate a poor soul.
