Ethan's POV
The sound of the elevator doors closing had never felt louder.
Each metallic thud seemed to echo through my chest like a heartbeat I could not control.
For the past week, something had been… off.
David had been visiting more often, but not for me this time.
He had walk in all casual — that lazy grin on his face — but his eyes always drifted toward Aaron's desk. And Aaron… He had suddenly grow quiet, fumbling over papers or pretending to be deeply focused on an empty spreadsheet.
I noticed it.
Every. Single. Time.
And while I had no business caring, part of me could not help but frown each time I caught that small, nervous smile on his face whenever David came around.
Not because I was mad at Aaron — but because it reminded me too much of what I was trying not to feel for Tracy.
Tracy.
I did not see her much that morning, but the office somehow felt different because of it.
It was quiet… dull.
