"The Crack in the Glass"
The morning started too quiet — the kind of quiet that warned you something wasn't right. The office was its usual mix of soft chatter and keyboard clicks, but the air felt heavy. Tracy could feel it pressing on her skin as soon as she walked in.
Claire's eyes met hers briefly from across the room, cold and sharp. No greeting. No smile. Just that look that said, You shouldn't be here.
Tracy tried to ignore it. She placed her bag on the side of her desk and got to work, typing out the revisions Nathan had requested the day before. Her head ached from staying up too late, reviewing proposals that weren't even part of her department — tasks Claire had "delegated" to her at the last minute.
"Tracy," Claire's voice rang out, sweet but fake. "Mr. Cole needs the finance summary for the last quarter before the meeting at ten."
Tracy blinked, confused. "The finance summary? But that's not—"
