"What do you mean you have to attend a dinner date tonight?"
Tasha's voice sliced through the quiet apartment, sharp enough to make Liam's hand freeze on the last button of his shirt.
Her face was flushed, pink creeping up from her neck to her cheeks and her eyebrows pulled together in confusion.
"It's not like I have a choice," Liam said, turning back to the mirror. "I owe her and she's cashing it in."
"You owe her?" Tasha stood from the couch, his oversized black T-shirt shifting with the movement and riding up on her bare thighs. "That's enough reason for you to go on a date with someone?"
Liam exhaled slowly, keeping his eyes on his reflection. "What do you want me to say, Tasha?"
"That you're not going."
"I can't do that. I already agreed."
Her arms crossed over her chest, and she stared at him like she was waiting for him to crack. When he didn't, her jaw tightened. "So what about me? Did you forget that my uncle can send people at any time to kill me?"
