Chapter 303 - Chapter 299 Ella and Yara

Ayla and Yara hid behind a pile of ruined stones, carefully avoiding the monster residents of Oros.

Although, given her identity, she wasn't really in a position to call others monsters, it was undeniable that some people were more monstrous than monsters.

Ayla and Yara came from Matarris, a city north of the Land of the Long Summer, close to the Sea of Sighs.

It was said that hundreds of years ago, it was extremely prosperous, so prosperous that even now, the elders in their families would often speak of the city's flourishing state, recounting the grandeur of the Valyrian Dragonlords' rule over the city.

Now, it was nothing more than a ruined city, a ruined city filled with deformed monsters.

Like most Matarris people, Ayla and Yara made a living by searching for Valyrian relics in the Valyria ruins and selling them to passing merchant caravans in Matarris.

However, after hundreds of years of scavenging, all the non-dangerous and highly valuable relics had already been taken, and now they had to venture deep into Oros on the north shore of the Smoke Sea to find valuable items.

For this, Ayla and Yara spent a month traveling from Matarris to Oros.

Along the way, they encountered various dangers: some terrifying monsters with rotting bodies, and some scorched-earth wildlings wandering the Land of the Long Summer.

No matter what kind of danger, it was deadly for them as sisters.

Fortunately, the sisters were born with a powerful sensory ability; they could sense danger before it arrived, which allowed them to avoid those dangers, just as they were now avoiding the abyss dwellers roaming the Oros ruins.

The reason the two sisters risked such great danger to come to Oros was entirely because, not long ago, someone had found a petrified Dragon Egg in Oros and sold it to a passing merchant caravan at an extremely high price.

The money obtained from selling that Dragon Egg was enough for that person to live a carefree life in Matarris.

It was precisely because of the lure of money that many Matarris people, like the Ayla and Yara sisters, risked crossing the scorched-earth-like Land of the Long Summer to come to Oros in search of hidden treasures.

However, most people did not have the abilities of the Ayla and Yara sisters; most of them fell on the way to Oros.

Even if they were lucky enough to survive the Land of the Long Summer and reach Oros, they still faced the danger of being attacked by the Oros people.

Just now, the sisters saw a seven-person treasure-hunting team being surrounded and killed by a group of Oros people whose bodies were covered in cracks, oozing yellow pus, and whose eyes were blood-red.

Several people in that seven-person team were the best swordsmen in Matarris, and even they had no power to retaliate when they encountered the Oros people's encirclement.

It was even more impossible for them to survive if they encountered the Oros people.

Therefore, their subsequent actions became even more cautious.

As long as they sensed danger approaching, even if a valuable ancient item was right in front of them, they would absolutely not reach for it, but instead hide honestly until the danger passed.

In this way, the Ayla and Yara sisters ventured deep into the inner city of Oros, where others could not go, and they were getting closer and closer to their destination for this trip.

Unlike others who came here to search blindly, the sisters had already planned their target while still at home: the Governor's Mansion in Oros.

It was once the residence of a certain Valyrian Dragonlords family, and the sisters' ancestors were once the steward of this Dragonlords, and also Valyrian nobles.
