Yuzu woke up in pain.
It started from her face, then spread to her shoulders, arms, stomach, and legs. But the worst pain came from her abdomen. It hurt so badly that she groaned, instinctively reaching for her stomach with one trembling hand.
"I'll call the doctor."
Her attention snapped toward the familiar deep voice. A moment later, the figure she least expected and most wanted to see came into view. Shock made Yuzu clutch Niky's hand without thinking, stopping him just as he reached for the call button.
"Niky?"
Her voice trembled, fragile and disbelieving.
When she had fallen from the car and been thrown away by the explosion, Yuzu truly believed that was the end for her. She knew she was foolish, naive, stubborn, and reckless for going out on her own. Russia was not a place where someone like her could survive. Deep down, she had always known she couldn't find Yuki on her own.
But she had been angry.
