The taxi carrying Yuki and Yuzu drove them far away from the city of Moskov, heading toward a quiet town on the outskirts. The farther they went, the emptier the roads became, until the bustling noise of the city was replaced by long stretches of silent countryside.
Throughout the ride, Yuzu kept asking questions. One after another spilled from her lips—about Hikaru, about the accident, about what exactly they were walking into. Occasionally, Yuki would answer with a short reply, but most of the time she looked out the window, her expression calm and unreadable.
In the end, she gently ended the conversation with a single sentence.
"Trust me, Yuzu."
Yuzu was worried—terrified, even. But something in Yuki's voice made her fall silent again. She swallowed the rest of her questions and leaned back against the seat.
From time to time, she glanced at her twin sister.
