"Yeah! My win, you idiot!"
"Warm, isn't it? It's a memory from a long time ago, but my mom used to do it for me all the time."
The protagonist of this story. The first quote is from his kiss battle with Sakayanagi, and the second is from when he hugged Karuizawa. It's hard to believe they're the same person. He's a reincarnated person who died in his previous life and was reborn into the world of Classroom of the Elite. In his past life, the original story of COTE did not exist.
The abnormal fighting strength he displayed against Ryuuen comes from the martial arts he learned in his previous life. He was used to the weak feeling of his past life due to childhood malnutrition, so he became incredibly strong after being reincarnated. As for the final right straight, Ryuuen should be thankful to Ayanokoji, as it would have completely shattered his jaw if he had taken the hit.
He was probably the most active person in the span of volumes 3 and 4 of the original story. During the uninhabited island exam, he brought the class together and negotiated with Ryuuen. After that, despite being caught in Ryuuen and Ayanokoji's schemes, he successfully managed to hand Class A a major defeat as requested by Sakayanagi. The reward was an increase of 5,000 points to his monthly allowance (which was 20,000 yen a month). This is clearly not commensurate with the work he put in.
By the way, Sakayanagi was delighted, saying, "It's just like a conversation between a married couple."
In the VIP exam, he was assigned to the Dragon group as the most-watched student. Right from the start, he began squabbling with Horikita and Sakayanagi, causing Chabashira-sensei to hold her head in her hands and Hoshinomiya-sensei to burst out laughing.
He had originally planned to team up with Ryuuen, but he gave up on that idea after Sakayanagi made a second request. This behind-the-scenes plan was carried out by Saito and Sakayanagi alone. The others, like Ryuuen, Ayanokoji, and Horikita, only vaguely knew about it.
His evaluations were made based on his performance after the exam. His cooperation has gone up one rank, and his intellect has gone up three ranks compared to July 1st. The intellect rating was determined during the VIP exam's group discussions. Of course, no one would have thought that a guy who was involved in "sugar baby" arrangements, pachinko, and gambling could be so intelligent.
However, his social contribution seems to still be low.
He's ranked #1 in the handsome boys' ranking, but after the incident with Sakayanagi, a new "Guys You Shouldn't Fall For" ranking was created, and he was, of course, #1. He shot to the top with a vote margin nearly five times larger than the second-place holder. Ryuuen was second, and Hashimoto was third.
It's probably to be expected, since he kissed Horikita and won over Karuizawa, but he still hasn't made a move on anyone. What a scumbag.

"Hehe ♡ Mmm... w-wait ♡" "Hah, hah... T-this is weird ♡"
"────Yes. I think this kind of evaluation is what people who say such terrible things deserve, wouldn't you agree?"
The heroine of this story. As written at the end of the first chapter, she is the heroine of a promised victory.
The first quote is what she said when she was defeated by Saito in their kiss battle. The second is what she said while trying to hold back her laughter when she isolated Totsuka from the class. It's hard to believe they're the same person.
She didn't appear in Volume 3, so you might think her presence has faded, but she stole the show in the end. Although she lost the kiss battle, she is the only girl who has ever succeeded in making a rarely embarrassed Saito turn completely red and make his heart pound.
In Volume 4, she spent every day with him to make up for the week she couldn't see him until the exam started. This time, she succeeded in gaining complete control of Class A, but she became indignant when a rumor started to circulate that "Karuizawa has a crush on Saito."
Sakayanagi herself would later get frustrated as she couldn't see him for a while due to the plan she made...
All her abilities are extremely high compared to the original, so the current Sakayanagi, who has taken control of Class A, is the strongest leader as a whole. I honestly think I've gone a bit overboard. If you ask if Horikita, Ryuuen, or Ichinose can win against her... we can only hope for their growth.
Totsuka was actually a little bit in love with her. However, because Totsuka is the type of person who bullies the girl he likes and Sakayanagi is head over heels for Saito, their feelings tragically didn't align. Rest in peace.

"...That's so unfair...it really is."
"I guess that's what it means. See you later, Tsugumi. Good luck."
The original protagonist. The original emotionless persona is nowhere to be seen. The first quote is what he said when he was forgiven by a betrayed Saito and was called by his first name along with words of encouragement. The second quote is what he said when Horikita kissed Saito.
Saito says that he had a smug ( ̄∀ ̄) expression on his face. You've become quite expressive. You were almost in tears when you said the first quote.
He considers Saito and Horikita to be close enough friends that he would tell them about the "White Room." He told them based on the belief that he could "trust a person he's okay with being deceived by," but it's questionable how many people in this world could actually deceive him.
He was initially worried about whether he had made the right choice by telling them, but he doesn't regret it since he realized the pressure on his chest had disappeared.
He's slightly traumatized by how angry Saito got at him at the end of the deserted island exam. Since he had never had anyone he didn't want to be hated by, it's debatable whether this is an indication that he's developing human emotions or that he has a weakness now. I hope he can make up for that weakness with his non-original abilities.
He had almost no screentime in Volume 4... My bad.

"...W-well then. That's what it means...Tsugumi-kun."
"Don't talk about it like it's some kind of part-time job training...Well, if you two say so, I'll do it."
If Sakayanagi took the last part of Volume 3, this girl took the last part of Volume 4. The first quote is her parting shot after she kissed Saito. The second is what she said before that, when Saito and Ayanokoji acknowledged her abilities. Her little sister-like nature seems to show even in her friendships, as Ayanokoji and Saito see her as a troublesome little sister.
She's the character who has grown the most since their enrollment, and her momentum hasn't stopped. Her judgment has gone up one rank, and her cooperation has gone up two ranks, and she's acting in a way that lives up to that evaluation.
For example, her interactions with the girls in Class D. It seems she rejected them all in the original, but in this story, she's trying to communicate with them, even though she's not used to it. From their perspective, she's a "beautiful girl who's trying her best to become friends with them while fumbling over her words." It's no wonder she's becoming popular.
By the way, Kushida is furious about this.
She realized her feelings for Saito were more like love than respect when he held her in his arms while she was covered in mud at the end of Volume 3.
She initially thought it was a misunderstanding caused by her fever. However, during their fake feuding, she noticed herself getting jealous when she saw his interactions with Sakayanagi.
The final kiss was a result of Ayanokoji cheering her on playfully. He said something like, "Karuizawa seems to have a crush on Tsugumi too, are you really just going to keep backing down?" which made her anxious.
Ayanokoji is enjoying watching his friend's love life spiral into a mess.
---------
Kei Karuizawa
A girl who was saved by a handsome guy when she was at her most vulnerable. Unlike the original, her mental state became much more stable after being saved by his compassion. However, since most of the foundation was built by Saito, problems would arise if he were to disappear.
She deeply regrets wrongly accusing Saito of being a panty thief in the uninhabited island exam because of her emotional state. It couldn't be helped, as her past trauma resurfaced when Saito was being defended instead of her, the victim of the theft.
Unlike Horikita and Kamuro, she fell for Saito even though she was aware that he was flirting with a lot of girls, so she's surprisingly calm about it... but since she was jealous of Sato's closeness with Ayanokoji in the original, it's questionable how calm she would be if she saw it happen right in front of her.
She's still dating Hirata, for the time being. They can't break up while the class is still filled with dissatisfaction. Even Saito wouldn't go on a date with a girl who has a boyfriend, so they'll probably just hang out in groups for a while.
---------
As of now, she's the only person who knows about Saito's past life. The details are fragmented, but they are completely different from what Sakayanagi, Ayanokoji, and Horikita know.
---------
Masumi Kamuro
The unsung MVP of the uninhabited island exam. After Saito was chased out on the fifth day, she secretly brought him food and water from the class, and she also did his laundry. It's a secret that she did his underwear herself and was a little bit sad to give them back.
She is also the only character who has witnessed the terrifying nature of Saito and Sakayanagi. She probably thought, "This couple is messed up," seeing them effortlessly choke out Totsuka and laugh as they isolated him from the class.
She knows it's impossible for her to date Saito, but she's a pitiful girl who can't give up on him. However, she's also shrewd enough to consider being his second woman.
...I had a thought while writing this late at night, that Kamuro might have stumbled upon Saito doing something in the back of a cave, but I thought that was too messed up and scrapped it.
But I think it would be cute if Kamuro turned bright red and tried to leave, but then she got curious and secretly came back to watch.
---------
Mio Ibuki
She lost much more miserably than in the original, so her bond with Ryuuen has grown a little stronger. She and Saito were getting along well during the uninhabited island exam, but she got a little depressed after seeing him and Sakayanagi acting like a sappy couple.
It's like seeing a girl you've been getting along well with in your class (who from her perspective is just a good friend) hanging out alone with a guy from another class after school. She also feels guilty towards Horikita and Saito, so she gets even more down on herself.
She was horrified by the fighting skills Saito showed at the end of the uninhabited island exam. She doesn't think a high school student could throw Ishizaki with one hand or take down Albert by aiming for his weak points. She's curious about what kind of martial arts he does, but she doesn't have the courage to talk to him after that incident.
---------
Honami Ichinose
Her mental debuffs are slightly removed compared to the original, so she is stronger. However, if she continues as she is, she will inevitably be left behind by the leaders of the other classes who continue to grow, so a solution is urgently needed... What should I do...
She has been friends with Saito, Ayanokoji, and Horikita since the Sudo incident, and they have eaten together three or four times. Saito usually brings Ayanokoji and Horikita, and Ichinose brings Kanzaki.
You might think their relationship would be strained after the VIP exam, but Ichinose doesn't seem to care at all. This kind of big-heartedness is also the secret to her popularity.
---------
Kakeru Ryuuen
A man who has grown exponentially in the last few chapters.
In the original, his spirit was broken after Ayanokoji beat him up, but this time with Saito, he's not broken at all; he's filled with motivation. Since Saito's anger was a result of his good friend being hurt, Ryuuen didn't feel fear, unlike with Ayanokoji.
With the results of this exam, Ryuuen is almostcertain that the mastermindX is Saito. The act of feuding with Horikita must have worked.
With that in mind, he's patiently waiting for a chance to get revenge on Saito, but he's also aware of the gap in their abilities, so he sees Saito and Sakayanagi as the final bosses.
---------
He's in contact with a certain person for the next exam, but... since the VIP exam had a different result from the original, no students are currently aware of this.
