Chapter 256 - Chapter 256: Never Back Down for My Brother

Thump!

Inside Baron Winters's room, Rachel tiptoed down the stairs.

She descended cautiously, observing her surroundings.

Dressed in black clothes with a dark purple hood over her head, Rachel, appearing mysterious, breathed a sigh of relief only after reaching the bottom floor and seeing that no one had noticed her.

"Phew!"

With a look of lingering fear in her eyes, Rachel patted her chest.

She was planning to leave Baron Winters's room and go home, and her greatest fear was that the goatee-bearded uncle would suddenly pop out.

Although she had a very bad impression of this uncle, she was still somewhat intimidated by his magic.

She had only taken two steps when she was startled.

"Merlin" was lying on the ground, watching her without blinking.

Seeing Rachel look over, he let out a "woof woof" sound.

"Shh!"

Rachel immediately put a finger to her lips, making a shushing gesture.

"Quiet! Merlin!"

Merlin, in turn, made a very human-like expression of confusion.

"I need to go save my brother, so I have to leave here. We're good friends, you can't tell the Baron."

Rachel whispered to "Merlin."

She had already learned from the newspaper that her brother had stepped forward, and to prevent the hateful aliens from waging war on humanity, he had voluntarily accepted and become their captive.

Raven, who valued Eric more than anyone, naturally wouldn't stay here at ease.

Even though she was just a tiny tot at the moment.

Seeing Rachel's finger pressed against his mouth, Merlin nodded glumly.

If he could speak, he would probably tell her directly that he also wanted to go out and play.

But unfortunately, he couldn't speak.

After dealing with "Merlin" who was lying on the ground, Rachel's eyes glowed with fervent light.

"Brother, wait for me!"

Clenching her small fist and waving it downwards, Rachel opened the room door and walked into the hallway, preparing to cross it and head out to the courtyard.

The wooden room hallway was dimly lit, with some portraits and landscape paintings hanging on the walls.

Rachel didn't recognize the people in the portraits, but she thought the landscape paintings were pretty good.

Of course, they were still a bit worse than her own paintings.

They were painted so brightly, not dark at all, definitely not the kind of paintings she liked!

Rachel walked forward along the hallway, lost in thought.

But after walking for a while, she found herself back at the starting point.

Was she lost?

Rachel, feeling indignant, continued to run a few laps along the hallway, only to find that no matter how she walked, the result was always returning to the starting point.

"Pant! Pant!"

Leaning against the wall, Rachel's small body panted heavily.

Although her body was tired, her unyielding spirit made her continue to drag her weary body forward.

On the other side, in his study, Baron Winters watched the small figure running in the hallway with a serious expression.

He had already used magic to set up a barrier in the hallway; unless he personally removed it, Rachel would absolutely not be able to leave the hallway.

He had already promised Eric, so he naturally wouldn't let Rachel leave.

"Woof woof!"

At this moment, Merlin the leopard, downstairs, also tucked his tail and quietly entered the room.

Baron Winters glanced at Merlin and shook his head, "Do you think I'm being a bit excessive? Merlin."

Facing his master's inquiry, Merlin whimpered and lay on the ground.

However, judging by the disdain in his eyes, one could probably guess the leopard's thoughts.

"Alright, Merlin, I admit I shouldn't be like this towards such a small child, but you have to admit, if I don't use this method, I probably won't be able to make her give up."

Baron Winters looked at the panting, still unyielding girl, remained silent for a while, and then said, "I can feel the powerful magic within her, the miracles it contains, but her soul is mediated by emotion, connecting herself to others, so she will also be bound and burdened by emotion, which is not entirely a good thing."

No sooner had he finished speaking than little Rachel returned to the starting point in the hallway again.

She sat down with a thud, breathing heavily.

Although she possessed powerful magical abilities, in terms of physical body, she was currently just a two-year-old child.

Sitting on the ground, imagining the danger her brother was currently in, anxious sweat directly beaded on her face.

"No! Brother, brother was taken by aliens, I, I…"

As she spoke, she struggled to stand up from the floor and continued to walk forward.

Although her feet were almost too heavy to lift, the belief in her heart still supported her.

Baron Winters in the room was also moved by Rachel's persistence.

Just as he was hesitating, Rachel reached the starting point again.

Her eyes filled with endless disappointment, she plopped down onto the ground.

The surging magic within her began to overflow from her body!

Knowing that her brother was in danger and that she could do nothing, this strong emotion of self-blame and pain instantly enveloped her.

The immense soul power within her instantly showed signs of losing control.

Black shadows materialized from her body, swirling around her like out-of-control black birds.

A strong whirlwind emanated from her body, swirling around her just like the black shadows.

The paintings hanging in the hallway rattled loudly, buffeted by the gale.

At the same time, Rachel's eyes also changed, turning completely black.

Within her deep black pupils, a strong, terrifying aura emanated.

The area around her eyes was also stained black, looking like dark circles of someone who hadn't slept for days and nights.

Fine lines extended around her pitch-black eye sockets.

Even Baron Winters in his room could sense the terrifying power Rachel was unleashing in the hallway at that moment.

Seeing that she was on the verge of eruption, Baron Winters took a deep breath, suppressing the unease in his heart.

He immediately used magic to remove the barrier in the hallway.

Although he didn't want Rachel to leave, and even less did he want to see the little Raven lose control.

As the magic in the hallway was dispelled, the door leading out of the hallway appeared before her.

Looking at the suddenly appearing exit, little Rachel, who was on the verge of erupting, paused for a moment.

The blackness in her eyes quickly receded, and the black shadows swirling around her gradually returned into her body.

Whoosh!

Rachel darted out of the hallway in an instant.

Because she ran too fast and hurriedly, even the hood on her head fell off, revealing her soft black hair and somewhat red ears.

"Hmm?"

Seeing Rachel's fleeing figure, Baron Winters immediately realized something was amiss.

Hadn't she already gone dark?

Why did she run so fast after seeing the exit?

Leaning on his staff, he immediately realized he had been tricked!

There was no impending emotional breakdown or uncontrollable magic; it was clearly this little girl deceiving him, forcing herself to look very intimidating, thereby fooling him!

He knew this girl was very mischievous, but he didn't expect her to deliberately pretend to be on the verge of going berserk to deceive him!

Tapping the floor with his staff, Baron Winters said to Merlin, "Merlin, you follow behind her and protect her. Remember not to let her discover you."

Merlin stood up, whimpered, and immediately darted out of the room, following Rachel's footsteps, who had already left.

Looking at the pitch-black night outside, Baron Winters shook his head.

On the Krypton spaceship, General Zod asked the scientist, "What's the situation now?"

"We have initially regained control, but…"

The bald scientist hesitated for a moment.

"What?"

"It seems the party holding the master key doesn't want to contend with us for control of the spaceship, but is constantly trying to infiltrate various modules of the ship."

The scientist said with some confusion.

"Whatever his purpose, use every means to prevent him from approaching our spaceship. Also, by tomorrow at the latest, I want to activate the World Engine and begin transforming Earth into Krypton."

General Zod had by now learned to adapt to his keen senses, and under the yellow sun's radiation, his abilities were gradually developing.

"No one can stop my determination to rebuild our home!"

General Zod instructed his subordinates, "Notify the Deputy Commander (Deputy Commander) to initiate operations against the Earth government. I do not wish to be interfered with by these barbaric and ignorant people during the planetary transformation process!"
