After saying this, Hawke could clearly feel his thigh tighten again.
He had actually received Gwen's hint.
Clearly,George's question was a trap.
Who was George Stacy?
The sergeant of the 19th Precinct of the NYPD.
If Hawke considered Spider-Man a vigilante, then in George's eyes, it was no different from advocating for a criminal.
So Gwen's reminder was to avoid falling into the trap and answer according to George's identity.
But if he did that, he would truly fall into George's trap.
If Hawke described Spider-Man as a criminal, then in George's eyes, he would probably become some kind of sycophant.
Therefore, this question seemed like a question, but in reality, no matter what he chose, it would ultimately be the wrong one.
Hawke chose A or B.
He jumped out of his shell.
He was now just a student; he didn't care whether Spider-Man was a criminal or a vigilante; he only cared about getting a scholarship to NYU.
That was all.
If someone else had answered like that, it probably wouldn't have worked; it might have given George the impression of being cunning.
But Hawke's answer was just right.
In short,Hawke didn't believe George hadn't thoroughly investigated him.
He wasn't afraid of George's investigation either.
Because that's what he said, and that's what he always did.
Actions speak louder than words.
At most, he had never left New York City before, and after saving every penny, he suddenly left New York City this year and went to Maryland.
But this was easy to explain.
He was still a young man, after all. Besides, going on vacation wasn't like he was going out to do anything bad.
Hmm.
At least when he was diligently cultivating himself in Maryland, he really didn't do anything bad.
Besides, the states in the federal government are independent; what business was it of his doing in Washington, D.C., when he was in New York City?
With his answer, Sheriff George Stacy's eyes first showed some surprise, then seemed to have thought of something, nodded, and practically announced the end of dinner.
Nine o'clock in the evening.
Gwen escorted Hawke downstairs.
She then realized what had happened and looked at Hawke: "You reacted quickly, Hawke. I didn't even realize Dad's question was a trap."
Hawke chuckled: "Because that's exactly what I thought."
Gwen nodded: "Okay, then go home early. It's a pity I can't take you home."
Because she was under curfew.
Not by George, but by Helen—this was Helen's punishment for Gwen's audacious trip to Maryland without a word.
Gwen usually returned home freely before 10 PM, but yesterday Helen had changed the curfew time, moving it from 10 PM to 9 PM.
"It's okay, I can get home quickly by subway."
"Okay, see you tomorrow."
"Yeah, see you tomorrow."
Hawke nodded, then watched Gwen return to her apartment building before turning and walking towards the nearby subway station.
If the New York City subway during the day was a chaotic mess, then the subway at night was like a zombie apocalypse.
You can't expect a subway system where fare evasion is so easy to achieve to be strictly managed.

So, normally, New Yorkers only take the subway at night if absolutely necessary.
Hawke, however, was alright.
On his way back to his apartment, he only managed to knock out a jerk and chase away two and a half black guys with dreadlocks who came up to him singing and dancing.
He made it home safely, albeit with some close calls.
The reason he mentioned two and a half singing and dancing black guys is simple:one of them had a huge Adam's apple, but also a huge chest.
So two and a half, no problem.
Back home, Hawke looked at Gwen's message, replied, and then went to bed.
School started tomorrow.
Early to bed meant he could get up early to take the free school bus to school.
When he left Gwen's house after dinner, she had offered to pick him up for school the next day.
But he refused.
Doing so gave Hawke the unsettling feeling that he was only dating Gwen so he could hitch a ride with her at school.
Although he knew he wasn't.
But others might not think that way. He might not care what others thought of him, but he still had to consider what others thought of Gwen.
After thinking about this, Hawke suddenly understood why, once someone has power, even if they don't want to get married and have children, the government will help them find a wife.
Although Gwen wasn't his wife, the principle was the same.
The next day.
Hawke got up early and rushed to the nearest stop on the school bus, just as he arrived and boarded.
The driver was still the seemingly fierce but kind-hearted bearded Hall.
"Good morning, Hall."
"Good morning, Hawke. Ready for your final semester?"
"I won't graduate until next year, Hall."
"Maybe you'll get an invitation from NYU this semester. I have faith in you."
"Okay, thank you, Hall."
"You're welcome."
After exchanging a few pleasantries with the bearded Hall, Hawke went to his usual seat and sat down.
The school bus followed its pre-arranged route.
Each time it stopped, one or two students would board.
When the bus arrived at the Forest Hills stop, this time, a familiar face boarded.
As soon as Peter Parker boarded the bus, his spider-sense immediately drew his attention to Hawk, who was sitting alone in the last row by the window.
Hawk, just as Peter boarded, also turned his gaze to Peter standing at the boarding gate and to the somewhat melancholic man beside him.
This was…
Harry Osborn?
And the original Spider-Man version of Harry Osborn, the one who had gotten to Mary Jane first.
Peter had already greeted his friend Harry, who had transferred to Midtown High School this year after returning from England, and then led Harry towards Hawk.
"Hawk."
"Peter."
"Hawk, this is Harry. He studied in England before, but transferred to our school this year. He's in his twelfth year, just like us."
"Harry, this is Hawk."
Peter greeted Hawk and then introduced Harry.
Not yet transformed into the Green Goblin, Harry, dressed in a casual suit, smiled and extended his right hand to Hawk.
"Hello, Hawk."
"Hello, Harry."
"…"
