Chapter 76 - Chapter 77 Christmas Gifts from the Military

Christmas 2012 didn't seem much different from previous years.

Christmas carols played in the streets and shops.

Snowflakes drifted down.

In the neighborhood, children gathered in groups, happily playing together on this special holiday.

The entire city of New York was immersed in the joy of Christmas.

Families celebrated in various restaurants or gathered at home, lighting bonfires and celebrating the holiday together.

Hawke was also reuniting with his family.

As in previous years, he took a bus to Calvin Cemetery as dusk approached, stepping through the snow to spend the holiday with his sister.

Helen had wanted to invite him to celebrate with Stacy's family on Long Island, but he declined.

Although Hawke felt that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, he would definitely marry Gwen, and Gwen would become his only wife and a member of the family.

But that was a matter for the future.

The future was the future, not now.

Most importantly,he also had his own family.

So…

Hawke declined Helen's invitation.

From childhood, he had always spent Christmas with his sister Anya, even after her passing in 2009.

He still made sure to spend Christmas with her every year.

Hawke knew his sister loved company, but due to her congenital heart condition, she could only watch from afar most of the time.

That already pained Hawke enough; how could he let Anya spend the holidays alone?   He couldn't bear it.

In the cemetery, just like last year, Hawke placed Anya's favorite food in front of her tombstone, then sat down beside it, gazing at the distant scenery.

Heavy snow was falling.

Strangely enough, although the snow, which had been falling for almost two hours, had already covered the surrounding ground with a white blanket, the ground around Hawke and Anya's tombstone remained as dry as on a sunny day.

It was like being surrounded by a tiger in the snow-covered wilderness, as dry as summer.

Hawk leaned against the tombstone, his eyes slightly closed, his mind sinking into his own inner universe.

After three days of rest, his inner universe had fully absorbed the gamma power he had plundered after Hulk's death, and was completely refreshed.

Clearly, his inner universe had been elevated.

Gamma power is a real force in the Marvel Universe.

Therefore, his cosmos, after absorbing this real gamma power, became somewhat more real.

Although it's still far from a true cosmos, practically nonexistent, the slight increase in realism makes a world of difference compared to his previous cosmos.

For example,if Hawke needed the power of drowning in the lake to kill Hulk before, he no longer needs to.

Now, if he were to find Hulk again, even on land, as long as Hulk maintains his previous fighting strength, he could beat him to death.

No exaggeration.

Most importantly,Hawke, immersed in his cosmos, looked up at the dazzling, scorching Phoenix constellation above, radiating unparalleled light, and at the dozens of new stars that had appeared in the sky.

Yes,dozens of stars.

This was another unexpected gain besides gamma power after his successful revenge against Hulk.

Or rather, it wasn't entirely unexpected.

Saint Seiya is all about holy war. With each battle, Hawke gains more stars in his cosmos, enhancing his strength and creating a direct correlation between the number of battles he fights and his power.

This time, Hawke plans to use the extra dozens of stars to illuminate the 'Dragon' constellation.

The 'Phoenix' constellation gave him the confidence of 'immortality' and 'rebirth.

The 'Dragon' constellation will then provide him with the 'fierceness of a dragon' and the 'protection of a dragon.'

Fierce power and unparalleled defense.

This is the Dragon constellation.

Among all the Saints, he is the only one who is stronger without his Cloth than when he wears it.

Most importantly,this is a dragon!

The phoenix cries in the heavens.

The dragon roars across the nine heavens!

Hawke slowly opened his eyes, glancing sideways at the photo of his sister on the nearby tombstone, seemingly smiling at him. A gentle expression appeared on his face.

"Hulk should be in hell by now."

"You've probably seen it too."

"Don't worry, Abomination's coming soon too."

"Remember to tell Mephisto that if he doesn't take good care of you, when I get to hell, I'll twist his head off and use it as a chamber pot!"

Just like Mephisto did to Zalanos.

What?

You don't know who Zalanos is?

You know Ghost Rider, right? Ghost Rider uses Zalanos's power.

After defeating Zalanos, Mephisto twisted his head off and made it into a chamber pot.

The Ghost Rider's power was bestowed upon him by Mephisto using one of his chamber pots.

Hawke spoke softly, as if so that his sister Anya, trapped in hell, could hear him.

Leaning against the tombstone, Hawke closed his eyes and rambled on about the things that might have amused and delighted Anya over the past year.

Hawke was no longer the taciturn man he once was; he was quite talkative. Very talkative indeed.

He even shared today's front-page headlines with Anya.

It was about Tony Stark's battle against the Extremis virus Killian at the Roslyn Harbor docks in Tennessee, and how he used his Iron Legion, built up over the years, to set off fireworks.

Like other little girls, Anya loved hearing news about billionaires.

"Last night, at the oil tanker terminal in Roslyn, Tennessee, an unprecedented heroic farewell and confession of identity unfolded."

"After successfully thwarting the deadly threat of terrorist Aldridge Killian and his Extremis virus soldiers, Tony Stark made a jaw-dropping move—" "

He ordered all the remaining Iron Legion armors to take to the air in a priceless, night-sky-illuminating self-destruction."

"This morning at seven o'clock, Tony Stark reappeared and gave an interview, stating..."

Hawk, leaning against the tombstone, murmured to himself, thinking about the morning's newspaper articles.

The cemetery was silent, save for Hawk's murmurs.

If a timid passerby were to approach and hear these hellish, demonic sounds, they might think they'd encountered a ghost.

After a while,Hawk's murmurs ceased.

He leaned against his sister Anya's tombstone, seemingly asleep.

Like last year and the year before, Hawke planned to stay here and spend this Christmas with his sister.

After all, barring any unforeseen circumstances, this would be the last time.

Because next year, at the latest before next Christmas, he would find a way to go to Hell and openly bring his sister back.

Mephisto either had to return his sister to him,or he had to destroy Mephisto.

There was no other choice.

He didn't know how much time had passed.

The noise outside the cemetery, which had been somewhat lively, completely disappeared with the passage of time.

At this moment, the entire city of New York seemed to fall silent simultaneously.

But just then, a soft pattering sound, as if coming from afar, accompanied by a slight tremor in the ground, came from nearby.

Footsteps.

The sound of tracks grinding on the ground.

At first, it was far away, but it gradually became clearer and closer.

Hawke's phone also vibrated at this moment.

Because he was afraid that Gwen would call, Hawke had only turned off the ringer, not turned off the phone.

Feeling the phone vibrating in his arms, Hawke opened his eyes and took out his phone.

He looked at the incoming call.

It wasn't Gwen calling.

It was Anna.

Hawke thought for a moment and answered the phone.

"Hello..."

"Hawk, I just received news that the military knows you're the one who stormed the Quantico military base that day, and they've already located you and sent people to your location."

As soon as the call connected, Anna's voice rushed out of the receiver.

The message was clear:

Still sleeping?

Your men are here.

Hawke raised an eyebrow, his senses, usually kept at a normal level, fully activated.

Instantly!

He heard the rumble of armored vehicles scraping the ground.

He also heard the sound of weapons clashing as the fully armed soldiers jogged.

And Hawke didn't speak, directly hanging up Anna's call, expressionless as he got up from the ground, looked up at the sky, and saw an armed helicopter in the distance, its searchlights flashing and its rotors roaring as it rapidly approached.

Soon.

A speeding armed helicopter streaked across the sky, its searchlight blazing with pinpoint accuracy, illuminating Hawke's surroundings as if it were daytime.

Boom!

After stabilizing its position above the cemetery, the helicopter's cabin door opened, and a soldier sat down in front of the Metal Storm weapon, aiming the weapon—capable of firing hundreds of bullets per second—at Hawke under the searchlight.

Simultaneously.

Boom!

Two armored vehicles, equipped with some kind of sonic cannon, crashed through the cemetery gates, ignoring the tombstones, and drove over them with a deafening roar, arriving before Hawke.

Crack.

Crack.

Following closely behind were the Federation soldiers.

With the searchlights and sonic cannons in place, the soldiers loaded their weapons and, some standing, some crouching, aimed their guns at Hawke, who stood not far away.

War!

Imminent!!
