Chapter 39 - How to make sure you are completing the quest the right way!

As the Boss' HP neared 2000, I began wondering if there was going to be a third phase or if there was going to be an extension to the quest. My eyes locked on that Witch, observing any significant change that differed from all the previous ones that she had shown until now.

Don't tell me that this will be all? I pondered as I believed that would be too underwhelming given all the quests that I had received.

[New Quest: Weeping of the Night Widow III (Uncommon)(Chain Quest)!]

[Description: You have now learned the truth about the Witch. The past she had, the scars she carried and a portion of her will and origin. And as you reach the greater truth about this pitiful girl, you soon find most of the mysteries unraveling in front of you. Tell me, adventurer, what choices will you make?

Quest Type: Scenario Based

Requirements:

-At least 40 Favorability with the Inara Settlement.

-Level 7

Task: Meet the Witch and listen to her story.

Rewards: Next part of the Quest!]

Until now, there has been no change in the quest description. Not a single line differed from before.

Do we really have to go all the way until she loses her HP? I thought about it before wondering about one more fact. That was that she was talking in the Ancient Language of Arcadia. Which made me somewhat believe that if I needed to move to the next part of the quest, I kind of needed to use the same language as well.

Wouldn't that make this quest nearly impossible for anyone who doesn't know the language? For example, the entire player base. It made me chuckle a bit.

There were many factors related to this quest. Perhaps many that I did not know of.

There could have been an NPC related to the quest who knew Ancient Language, perhaps I should have talked more to the other NPCs a bit more. Or there could have been an item within the settlement, perhaps in the Elder's manor, that would allow one to translate the Ancient Language.

Though it's a bit late for that, I wonder if I can still get that item or find that NPC who knows Ancient Language, it will be something worth checking out later. I smiled as I smelled more rewards after the quest was done.

-Rawr!

From the corner of my vision, I saw a zombie lunging at my right hand, almost ready to chomp it off my body.

-BAM!

And then a boom resounded as a spear utterly destroyed most of its head. Its body fell to the ground, lifeless and motionless.

-Rawr! Rawr!

Behind him, two more zombies were approaching. But before they could even reach halfway, a dark shadow intercepted them, killing them swiftly as a clean wound shaped on their necks.

As soon as Raven was done with these zombies, she began moving to other nearby ones. Meanwhile, Blaze, who had thrown his weapon, moved with caution but haste as he reached and recollected his weapon.

-Slash!

Seems like I don't need to worry too much about them. I smiled, looking at their skills, and how they were making the best out of their abilities right now.

Raven was already doing good, but it seems Blaze isn't backing down either. Well, all in all, it is good enough for me. I thought before focusing back on the witch, raging as she once again moved to land a hit on me.

I dodged the Witch's horizontal slash before attacking her, and then, jumping back, I increased the gap between us as she did three 360-degree slashes. And lastly, as she used her teleportation spell, I dodged again before going for a 4 strike combo.

It's getting a bit too repetitive. I sighed before moving in for another attack as I saw the Witch, once again ready with her scythe, her eyes once again, raging with vengeance.

The pattern kept repeating over and over as the Boss' health was chipping down slowly, a few health points at a time. It had already been over an hour since the fight began, but considering the fact that I was still in good shape, I didn't think I would need to worry too much about this.

[HP: 3000/10000]

[HP:2000/10000]

[HP: 1000/10000]

[HP: 500/10000]

As soon as the 500HP mark was reached, the Witch's body fell to her knees. Her eyes, now darker than the night itself, began weeping tears of blood. And unlike the vengeful screams before, now one can feel her screams of agony.

She cried as her entire body began shaking. At this moment, she felt weak, vulnerable and perhaps, pitiful.

Slowly the surrounding zombies, as if puppets whose strings have been cut off, fell on the ground making a 'thud' sound. The dense dark hue that was covering the area thinned out, increasing visibility once again.

"In liea nulfa oh ampeia? (Why is this world so unfair?)" She asked, crying, as she clutched the mud in her hands.

"Liea mlie nlau anlk? (Just what have I done to deserve this?)" She asked again, as if a woman who had only seen suffering in her life.

"Mliea. Lila. Aerie. Inalu rhou moa leim anik? (My children. Lila. Aerie. Why is it that I can't even protect my children, even in death?)" She asked, as a mother who wanted nothing more than to save her children.

"INALU RHOU MOA LEIM?!!!!! (WHY IS IT THAT I CAN'T EVEN PROTECT MY CHILDREN?!!!)" She screamed as she cried even more, the surroundings staying still as Link healed Raven and Blaze once again.

The trio, along with the other viewers, watched the Witch crying, confused as they probably did not understand the meaning behind those words.

And I sighed before turning to the witch. A bit puzzled by her words, I asked,

"Ispera ou noua le (What do you mean by your children being in danger?)"

Silence covered the entire area as I spoke those words.

"…"

"…"

"…"

"…"

[Comments: …]

The players looked at me with dumbfounded expressions, their eyes confused as they tried to understand what I had just spoken. And more importantly, they were wondering why had the Witch suddenly turned silent.

No more was the screaming sound coming out of her mouth as her eyes kept gawking at me, as if she wanted to confirm what she just witnessed once again, but wasn't able to do so.

My eyes first observed the 2 small system messages that I received.

[You have used an ancient language!]

[-4MP]

If it's not a [Prayer], just speaking a single sentence takes 4MP. I doubt I could hold a proper conversation with her even if I tried. Well… let's at least try to use the little MP I have as properly as possible. I thought as a sigh escaped my mouth before I turned to the Witch once again.

"Ile… a nu oa?(You… can understand me?)" She finally asked with the same dumbfounded expression as her eyes began to gather a streak of hope that wasn't present before.

Seems like this was the right choice. I thought as I finally saw the situation moving in a direction that I wanted it to move.
