From within the waves, a massive dark shadow revealed a glimpse of itself.
It turned out to be an enormous shark, at least thirty meters long, with teeth like door panels and fierce glints in its eyes.
But this shark-shaped sea monster was secondary; what truly captured attention was the figure seated on its back—a classic mermaid body structure, with a human upper body and a fish tail, yet the upper body was that of a burly man.
This was Triton, Son of the Sea God, firstborn of Poseidon and Queen Amphitrite.
This being was far more formidable than any sea monster; as the eldest Son of the Sea GodPoseidon, though his strength might not rival the main gods on Olympus, he was certainly not to be underestimated. At the very least, gods of the wind would not dare to be presumptuous in his presence.
Perseus had not expected Poseidon to send his most favored son to reclaim his honor. For a moment, Perseus even felt a touch of flattered surprise, indicating that in Poseidon's eyes, this demigod was now comparable to a full deity like Triton.
While he was momentarily stunned, Triton, Son of the Sea God, also rode his sea monster, breaking through the waves, and arrived in the waters near the reef. He stopped the shark, allowing the giant shark beneath him to circle the reef where Andromeda was bound, and then shouted loudly:
"I am Triton, Son of the Sea GodPoseidon. Today, I have specifically received my father's command to come and claim the sacrifice from the kingdom of Ethiopia. No matter who you are, it is best not to obstruct my path!"
As he spoke, he raised his trident, similar in style to Poseidon's. The giant shark flicked its tail in the sea, and huge waves surged towards the reef where the princess was tied. These waves crashed against Hecate's bare feet, and the Moon Goddess couldn't help but let out a small gasp.
Perseus noticed her bare feet lift and then slowly lower. Clearly, the Moon Goddess had instinctively wanted to teach the Son of the Sea God a lesson for washing her with waves, but remembering that she was acting, she swallowed her anger. If her foot had truly landed just now, whether Triton would die was unknown, but the sea monster beneath him would certainly be dead.
"Huh?"
However, Perseus's attention wasn't entirely on Hecate. Although Triton had shouted as if performing a routine duty, Perseus immediately noticed something unusual about the Son of the Sea God's behavior.
This fellow was too far away. He was at least several nautical miles from this reef, but Triton seemed to be wary of something, stubbornly refusing to come closer.
Perseus narrowed his eyes and looked up at Athena in the sky. The Goddess of Wisdom still stood behind the clouds, her expression normal. She showed no surprise even when she saw the Son of the Sea God. When she saw Perseus looking at her, she waved her hand, signaling Perseus to continue.
At this moment, Cepheus, King of Ethiopia, and Queen Cassiopeia, hearing the voice of the Son of the Sea God, also walked over from the shore. To prevent Athena from noticing, their memories had been silently altered by Ares. Their memories would only be restored after this commotion passed.
Furthermore, the acting skills of this king and queen were not up to par, so it was best to seal their memories and let them perform this scene with genuine emotions for the best effect.
Upon seeing their daughter almost submerged by the waves stirred up by Triton, Queen Cassiopeia could no longer hold back and cried, covering her face, while King Cepheus even knelt on the ground, praying to the heavens:
"Merciful gods, please save my daughter! She does not deserve this sin. If the gods can send someone to save my daughter now, I am willing to agree to any condition."
Hearing King Cepheus's words, Perseus, standing on the reef, finally spoke.
He asked, "King, are your words true?"
"Of course they are true!" Cepheus saw that Perseus was extraordinarily handsome and wore winged flying shoes on his feet. He immediately understood that this person must be an extraordinary hero and quickly replied, "I can swear by the gods!"
"Very well." Perseus pointed at Andromeda, played by Hecate, and said loudly, "I will save this princess for you, but afterward, she must marry me and become my wife."
"Yes, as long as you can save her, I will even give you my kingdom," Cepheus said hurriedly.
"Deal," Perseus replied.
The conversation between the two fell into Triton's ears. The latter immediately became "enraged by humiliation," raised his trident, and roared, "Humble mortals, are you ignoring me, the Son of the Sea God? Andromeda is a sacrifice offered to my father by Ethiopia. No one shall lay a hand on her! I will take her now!"
Perseus ascended into the air, took out his large purple scythe, Slaughter of the Undead Blade, and gently exhaled a turbid breath, then replied:
"Then come and try."
Triton roared, and the giant shark beneath him immediately leaped high out of the sea. Its massive body, over thirty meters long, blotted out the sky, and its terrifying shadow directly enveloped the entire beach, making King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia feel as if they had suddenly entered a world of darkness.
In mid-air, the Son of the Sea God raised his trident, used his divine power, and then created a wave dozens of meters high on the sea surface, surging violently towards Perseus and Hecate.
This giant wave looked terrifying, and it certainly was for mortals, but Perseus found it somewhat amusing.
Such an attack was meant for clearing lesser foes, not for dealing with high-level units like him. Facing this colossal wave, he merely waved the Slaughter of the Undead Blade in his hand, and the magical power and wind pressure generated by the weapon easily sliced the giant wave in half.
Is that all?
Feeling a surge of absurdity, Perseus swung his scythe in response, returning a blow to Triton. The scythe blade carved a deep purple crescent in mid-air, swiftly cutting through the air and reaching Triton's face.
The Son of the Sea God parried with his trident, and then actually spat out a mouthful of golden blood with a "wah" sound.
"Ah?"
Even Ares, who was controlling Perseus, didn't react immediately. Then he saw the "severely injured" Son of the Sea God, Triton, control the giant shark to land steadily on the distant sea surface. He glared hatefully at Perseus, then loudly declared:
"You mortal, how dare you offend the divine might of the Sea God! Remember this, we are not done with this matter!"
With that, the Son of the Sea God controlled the giant shark and plunged into the sea without looking back, running away, his frantic retreat quite in the style of his father.
Perseus watched the sea surface where Triton disappeared, blinked, and then realized.
So, Poseidon's son had also completed a secret deal with Athena long ago!
