Pallene Peninsula.
Just mentioning this place name might not tell many people what kind of place it is in greek mythology, but if we talk about the event that once shook the foundation of the Olympus Gods' rule in mythology, this place is absolutely unavoidable.
Although called a peninsula, in the Age of Gods, it was actually an isolated island far from the world ruled by the Gods. It floated in the gap between the inner and outer sides of the world, and it could even be said that this kind of isolated island might be the prototype of the future "Age of Gods Zoo," the Inner Sea of Stars.
And on such an isolated island lived a group of Giants. These Giants were tall, with long hair and beards. Their upper bodies were human, but they had two snake tails for feet.
They wore shining armor and used torches and huge stones as weapons. Their power was no less than that of the Olympus and the former Titan. Of course, they did not revere the Gods.
In fact, the Snake-Footed Giants on the Pallene Peninsula are perhaps the only creatures in the current Greek Age of Gods world that do not respect the ruling status of the Olympus Gods, because this isolated island is not located in the current world ruled by the Gods, and thus it is difficult for the Gods to find it.
Generally speaking, only the most skilled magicians might be able to find this area, but unfortunately, the powerful magicians in the Greek World now are basically "partisans" of Hecate and Ares.
If the Gods carelessly entered the Pallene Peninsula alone, even Zeus himself would probably meet a tragic end. Therefore, under Zeus's leadership, the Gods chose to seal this area to prevent it from surfacing and creating spatial cracks in the Greek World, treating it as if it did not exist.
In the history of the Greek Gods, there were two wars that almost shook the Gods' ruling position. The first was when the last Titan, Typhon, was born while Zeus was out having an affair and hiding his thunder, almost wiping out the Olympus Gods. The second war was initiated by these Snake-Footed Giants living on the Pallene Peninsula.
Among these Snake-Footed Giants, corresponding to the twelve main Gods of Olympus, there were also thirteen most powerful Giants with titles: "Strongman" Alcyoneus, Porphyrion the Violent, the Trumpeter, Enceladus, Aegaeon the Storm, Agrius the Savage, Thoon the Swift-Footed, Ephialtes the Nightmare, Mimas the Imitator, Pallas the Youth, Eurytus the Flooder, Clytius the Magnificent, Polybotes the Glutton, and Hippolytus the Horse-Releaser.
Among these thirteen Giants, "Strongman" Alcyoneus was the leader of the Snake-Footed Giants and the most powerful, while Porphyrion the Violent was his deputy, holding a position among the Snake-Footed Giants similar to Athena's current status.
These Snake-Footed Giants, like Typhon, were also lives conceived by the planetary inhibitory force, Gaia. They were also beings Gaia prepared to release to overthrow the Olympus Gods and replace them when they made her dissatisfied. These Snake-Footed Giants all carried blessings from the planet; even if they were instantly severely injured, they could instantly recover completely.
Even Zeus's thunder found it difficult to completely kill these monsters. In heaven and on earth, they feared only one kind of herb, and this herb could only break the planetary blessings on them and completely kill them when held in the hands of the most powerful hero among mortals.
In other words, only Heracles, holding the herb, could truly defeat these terrifying Giants. Otherwise, even if they were no match for the Gods in strength, the Gods could only seal them one by one to defeat them, which was a temporary solution, not a permanent cure.
And this is also why Heracles was eventually sealed as the God of Strength in mythology, because he saved Zeus's rule and his life.
However, now, Heracles is on Ares's side, and Hecate has already successfully transplanted and cultivated the herbs that can kill the Snake-Footed Giants. This means that these Snake-Footed Giants no longer pose a threat to Ares. If Ares wanted to be safe, he, Heracles, and Hecate working together would be enough to kill all thirteen of these Giants.
But the Gods on Olympus did not have this ability, so these Snake-Footed Giants were a huge threat to Zeus's rule, even a threat that could drive the old God King to desperation. However, the equipment of these Snake-Footed Giants was ultimately a bit lacking, and they were actually difficult to defeat a main God of the same rank in a one-on-one fight. Therefore, Ares came to Hephaestus and asked him to forge a batch of suitable weapons for these Snake-Footed Giants.
He didn't ask for much; it would be enough if the thirteen strongest Giants had weapons to use.
For this, Ares even did not hesitate to reveal some of his secrets and purposes to Hephaestus, but he also had confidence in doing so. Ever since Hephaestus stood up for his mother, Hera, and was then thrown down from Olympus by an enraged Zeus, breaking his leg, the Fire God had been completely disappointed in Zeus.
Ares could feel that Hephaestus even wished for a new brother to appear who could overthrow him, just as Zeus had done.
Therefore, after Ares presented his plan and purpose to Hephaestus, the Fire God accepted his order without a word and began to forge weapons for him.
Ares's divine power clone was assisting Hephaestus in controlling the furnace temperature and forging weapons, but his other clone had already quietly arrived at the Colchis Kingdom and secretly summoned its king, Aeetes, Medea's father.
Ares had already done multitasking many times, so he skillfully completed the arrangements. He instructed Aeetes, and Aeetes, being his follower, naturally agreed to his requests and went to work according to Ares's orders.
