Chapter 36 - Major Progress

That evening, Snoopy and Jennifer Lawrence spent hours in the living room of their Hilton suite sharing stories.

Jennifer spoke about her family and her path in acting. Born in Kentucky but raised in Kansas, she hadn't received formal acting training, she learned through online courses. It sounded ridiculous, but at fourteen, she had defeated countless professionally trained competitors and secured a favorable contract.

She even demonstrated how to express emotions in front of a computer screen, making Snoopy laugh uncontrollably.

In return, Snoopy shared stories from his own life. Jennifer was astonished: he was skilled in martial arts, piano, dance, violin, and more. Learning that Snoopy's mother had been a famous singer made her eager to meet her future mother-in-law.

Their conversation stretched into the night, until Russell Westbrook called. Excited, he said:

"Hey, Snoopy. Did you know your block on Michael Beasley made today's Top 5 plays nationwide? The only highlight ahead of yours was Kobe Bryant dunking on Dwight Howard, but honestly, your block was even more impressive."

"You've gone viral. Every NBA fan knows you blocked a projected top pick."

"Hey, why aren't you saying anything? Not happy?" Westbrook rambled. "This is a rare publicity opportunity! Think about it, you blocked a top prospect."

Then he realized something else: "Hey, Snoopy, I hope I'm not interrupting anything, you're not doing the piston exercise, right? Where's Jennifer's moaning."

Snoopy had enough and hung up.

Jennifer's cheeks were flushed. The atmosphere turned intimate. They instinctively embraced and kissed, fumbling awkwardly as they tried to remove barriers between them.

Snoopy's body trembled, his heartbeat drumming wildly, blood rushing to his lower body.

Jennifer, holding his broad back, whispered, "Ah! So hot!"

Snoopy's focus narrowed; nothing else mattered.

Through the chaos, he achieved his first "goal."

Heat! Pressure!

All night, Snoopy felt immersed in a warm, viscous comfort, a sensation unlike anything he had experienced.

By morning, they were half-asleep, entwined in each other's arms.

At 3:30 p.m., Snoopy was awakened by Coach Holland's call:

"Snoopy, why aren't you at the gym yet? Because you blocked a top pick last night and are now overconfident?"

Holland's tone carried restrained irritation. Snoopy was different from the other players; a wealthy, academically gifted student at Anderson College, he didn't rely solely on basketball. Conventional methods didn't apply.

"Okay, I'll be there in half an hour," Snoopy replied lazily.

Snoopy got out of bed, noticing Jennifer sprawled like melted clay, the bed a chaotic scene of intimacy and traces of blood.

"Going to the gym?" she asked weakly, crawling into his embrace.

"Yeah," he nodded.

"I… it hurts… you were too rough…" she complained softly.

Snoopy kissed her forehead gently. "Then… let's not do that again."

Jennifer lifted her head decisively, blushing. "No."

He patted her shoulder, took a shower, dressed, and said goodbye before heading to the court.

As he walked, he noticed his steps felt lighter, his control over his legs more precise. He ran a short distance, his speed had improved noticeably.

Excited, he arrived at the gym, intending to check in with trainer Leon Bob.

.....

News of Snoopy blocking the top prospect had spread throughout California. The newspaper predicted a 15% rise in Saturday special edition sales. Ding came to observe Snoopy's training, preparing to report it abstractly without giving away exact numbers.

Numbers:

Weight: 98 kg

Height: 195 cm

Standing vertical jump: 95 cm

"Hey, buddy, you didn't go all out. Recharge and jump again," Ding urged.

Snoopy protested: "I have other tests coming, give me a break!"

Additional measurements:

Approach jump reach: 3.35 m

Bench press 84 kg × 35 reps

¾ court sprint: 4.3 s

"Wait."

Trainer Leon Bob stopped the test, walking over, his face glowing with excitement. "Snoopy, look! Your approach jump increased by 13 cm, and your ¾ court sprint dropped 1.1 seconds. Our training methods are working!"

"Ben, come see! Snoopy's improving again!" Leon's voice shook the gym. The progress confirmed his scientific training approach. If Snoopy could reach his peak, NBA contracts would follow rapidly.

Coach Holland dropped his tactical board and ran over. For him, Snoopy's improvement mattered above all else.

They then tested Snoopy's lateral movement and half-court positioning speed, both improved by roughly a second.

Though still not exceptional relative to his height, these gains meant UCLA's defensive coverage could expand to the paint's edge. Opponents like Michael Beasley would no longer have easy shots near the basket.

The team's defensive capabilities had made a major leap forward.
