Chapter 34: One Day, I Will Lead the Soul Beasts to Invade the Divine Realm!
"You human deities, is it really so hard for you to tolerate our beast race?!" Ye Wen roared toward the heavens.
"Heh, the Divine Realm has long decreed that no beast is allowed to become a god. Of course, this only means beasts cannot obtain a divine position or ascend to the Divine Realm. It doesn't mean you can't break through to god-level."
"The heavenly tribulation does not involve the power of any god. Killing you, heh, is simply my personal decision," the God of Thunder said coldly. He openly revealed the truth to Ye Wen, his words filled with disdain and disgust for beasts, laced with resentment and murderous intent.
He had acted on his own. During the million-year heavenly tribulation, there was never any divine will involved!
It was simply because the God of Thunder hated beasts. He would not allow any beast, under his watch, to break through to god-level!
In the entire Divine Realm, only the God of Thunder, who wielded the power of lightning, could sense the descent of a million-year heavenly tribulation at any moment—thus, he appeared.
And only the God of Thunder could silently, without being noticed, merge his divine power into the tribulation lightning and interfere in the mortal world. (Note: This does not involve the god's physical form, only a form of power or energy.)
"Just because you wanted to? Just because you felt like it?!"
"Hahaha! Hahahaha!"
"God of Thunder! Good! What a fine God of Thunder!"
Hearing his response, Ye Wen's eyes burst with killing intent. His whale eyes turned blood red as he laughed madly—but within that laughter burned boundless rage.
He glared at the sky, at the aloof God of Thunder, the one who—just because he wanted to—abused divine power to kill him.
In that moment, thoughts Ye Wen had never dared entertain surged forth from his heart.
"Lei Tianyu, God of Thunder!"
"Poseidon, Sea God!"
"You human deities—every last one of you—want me dead!"
"You won't even give the beast race the slightest chance to become gods!"
"Must all of us beasts bear the consequences of what the Dragon God did long ago?!"
"Fine! Fine! God of Thunder! Sea God! And all of you gods who discriminate against and suppress us beasts—if I survive today, then one day, I swear I will lead the beast race to storm the Divine Realm!!!"
"I will kill you one by one!!"
Boom! Rumble rumble rumble!
"ROOOAR!!!"
A terrifying whale's roar echoed once more, filled with anguish. The energy of the Ice and Fire Dragons and the Fire Dragon King, which Ye Wen had devoured, could no longer be absorbed or digested—perhaps due to the interference of divine power with the tribulation—and now resisted the God of Thunder's merged divine attack.
"Heh, die, you wretched beast," the God of Thunder sneered as he struck the final blow.
With this strike empowered by the tribulation, he had absolute confidence he could kill Ye Wen completely. He didn't even bother to look. Before the strike even landed, he had already turned to leave.
But what he didn't know was that beneath the ground lay the corpses of the Ice Dragon King and Fire Dragon King. He didn't know Ye Wen had devoured them.
The energy of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings, along with Ye Wen's own power, combined to resist that devastating blow.
Boom boom boom!
"ROAR!!"
"AAAHHH!" Ye Wen howled in pain.
How terrifying is a god's power?
Even the weakest rank-three god is a being before whom even a Titled Douluo is like an ant.
And this was the God of Thunder, a rank-one god!
In his eyes, Ye Wen was nothing more than a bug—someone he could kill with a flick of his hand. Naturally, he didn't bother to stay and watch.
But the God of Thunder had not anticipated that the energy from the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings would allow Ye Wen to survive that strike.
Yet the tribulation was not over.
Ye Wen could no longer endure what remained of it—nor could he try to.
Because if the tribulation continued, it would mean he was still alive, and the God of Thunder would return!
So he had to abandon the tribulation, risking everything to attempt a transformation into human form to see if that would make the tribulation stop.
With incredible speed, before the next bolt of lightning could fall, Ye Wen switched into human form.
He stared at the sky, heart pounding. If lightning continued to strike in this form, he would be reduced to ash instantly.
But fortunately, after he shifted into human form, the lightning no longer fell. The vortex in the sky began to dissipate. The thunder and lightning ceased, the dark clouds dispersed, and the sky returned to brightness—the storm had passed.
Ye Wen finally let out a long breath. "I survived…?"
"Boss!!"
"Are you okay?!"
Xie Hu and Xiao Bai rushed to Ye Wen's side.
"I'm fine." Ye Wen, battered and exhausted, swam to shore and collapsed on the bank, breathing heavily. His heart was in turmoil as he silently stared at the sky for several minutes, his fists clenched tightly.
At this moment, a brand new goal took root in his heart.
A goal that to all others—even all soul beasts—seemed utterly impossible.
He would change the fate of soul beasts and the entire beast race!
He would break the rule that soul beasts must live under the oppression of human gods. He would make it so that every beast had the chance to break through, obtain divinity, and ascend to the Divine Realm!
He would lead the beast race in an invasion of the Divine Realm! He would cause havoc among the gods! He would claim a place for the beast race!
At the very least, those gods he hated would pay the price!
Only after a long while did the storm in Ye Wen's heart begin to calm. Slowly, he stood and walked away from the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
Originally, if he had devoured the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings and withstood the tribulation completely, his body, spirit power, and energy would have fully transformed to god-level. He would have broken through the million-year barrier in one step.
Even if he didn't reach the strength of a rank-three god, he would at least have attained the level of a divine officer. (Divine officer: a setting from the later parts of Douluo.)
But because of the God of Thunder's interference, the tribulation had been forcibly stopped, and much of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings' energy had been lost while resisting the attack.
He was still beneath level 100, below a million-year cultivation level. It was a shame—but Ye Wen hadn't come away empty-handed.
His Deep Sea Demonic Whale King bloodline had mutated—or rather, half of it had transformed into dragon blood!
The Deep Sea Demonic Whale King had already cultivated to the verge of dragon transformation, though not a true evolution into a dragon. But now, half his bloodline had truly become draconic.
He could temporarily evolve, mutating into a Deep Sea Demonic Dragon. In that state, his strength would reach the level of a divine officer.
Gods are ranked as follows: God Kings, Rank-One Gods, Rank-Two Gods, Rank-Three Gods. Below them are divine officers without god positions.
And even a divine officer is invincible in the mortal realm of Douluo!
In other words, Ye Wen's strength now truly surpassed that of the demi-god Bo Saixi, Qian Daoliu, and Tang Chen, becoming the strongest being in the Douluo mortal world!
But he also knew that this power must not be used unless absolutely necessary. Because this kind of power could very likely attract the attention of the god who governs the Douluo plane.
If that god, like the God of Thunder, harbored deep prejudice against the beast race—then danger would come again!
