Chapter 210 – A Perfect Chance to Kill Han Feng
Due to the nature of his cultivation technique, once Xiao Yuan suppressed his aura, almost no one could sense his presence—except for a few who had been specifically watching him. To everyone else, the once-radiant Xiao Yuan had seemingly vanished into thin air.
Of course, this was helped by the fact that everyone's attention had shifted to the Fallen Heart Flame. Naturally, far fewer were paying attention to Xiao Yuan now.
The Fallen Heart Flame, too, did not immediately notice the anomaly. While it had developed a certain level of intelligence, it clearly hadn't reached the point where it could instantly detect such subtle shifts.
Right after Xiao Yuan vanished, the invisible flame serpent—clearly sensing the disappearance of one of its locked targets—suddenly jerked its massive head up and whipped its tail violently, launching its enormous body into the air. Judging by its path, its new target was Han Feng, who stood among a group of Black-Corner Region experts.
As the serpent hurtled toward them, the expressions of Han Feng and the surrounding experts all changed. Even with their strength, the sheer pressure emanating from the creature made them feel as though they were facing a calamity. When the wave of scorching heat followed, many of them instinctively began to retreat.
"Don't panic! There's many of us—it won't dare charge in head-on!"
Sensing the drop in morale, Han Feng shouted reassuringly. He knew very well how terrifying this flame serpent was. Alone, he absolutely could not face it directly.
While what he said wasn't entirely wrong, the people of the Black-Corner Region wouldn't risk their lives unless the reward was worth it.
Han Feng quickly scanned the crowd. Sure enough, aside from a few powerful fighters, most people wavered visibly under the overwhelming heat.
"Screee!"
At that moment, the Fallen Heart Flame let out a piercing shriek. As the sound echoed, an invisible wave of fire—so intense that it warped the very space it touched—swept across the battlefield.
Even those protected by Dou Qi felt the searing pain. The flame's heat wasn't something that ordinary energy shields could easily resist.
Han Feng, enveloped in deep blue flames from the Ocean Heart Flame, remained unharmed. But those around him had to push their Dou Qi to the limit just to hold on.
"Han Feng, this isn't working! That thing's energy seems endless. If this goes on, our side will collapse first!"
A gold-robed old man spoke grimly, eyeing the sweating fighters.
Han Feng's face darkened. He locked his eyes onto the onrushing serpent and clenched his fists.
"Everyone, assist me! If we manage to subdue this flame, I will double the amount of medicinal pills I promised you!"
As he shouted, the flames around him surged upward. The Ocean Heart Flame blazed across his skin.
Hearing his offer, many of the experts, though hesitant at first, now looked tempted. Greed twinkled in their eyes as they nodded.
The Black-Corner Region was full of mercenaries—people who would risk anything for profit.
"Follow my lead—attack it together! Once we wear it down, leave the rest to me!"
As he spoke, twin spears of blue flame condensed in Han Feng's hands. As the serpent closed within ten meters, Han Feng's eyes snapped open and he roared:
"Attack!"
The twin fire lances shot out like waves crashing against a cliff, followed by dozens of energy attacks launched in unison. All were high-intensity blasts from the Black-Corner Region elites, empowered by greed.
"Elder Su, what should we do now?"
Hu Gan appeared beside Su Qian, eyes filled with concern.
"Observe for now." Su Qian narrowed his eyes. "The Fallen Heart Flame seems to be targeting Han Feng. Let them clash. Tell the Elders to use this time to recover Dou Qi. The real fight isn't over—and we must not let that flame fall into Han Feng's hands."
Hu Gan nodded and retreated.
Beneath a tree's shade, Xiao Yan crossed his arms and watched the battle unfold with a cold smirk.
"Fight, fight… Beat each other half-dead. I love being the fisherman who gets the catch."
Just then, he felt a breeze and tensed instinctively, Dou Qi surging—until a familiar voice spoke:
"How's Teacher doing?"
He turned and saw his third brother. A smile broke across his face.
"He hasn't responded yet, but judging by the fluctuations from the soul ring, he'll wake within two incense sticks' time."
Xiao Yan's spiritual strength had grown significantly. Though sixth-tier pills were still tough for him, fifth-tier pills were already easy to craft.
To him, the once-legendary Gu He was now nothing special.
"Good. I'll try to stall Han Feng soon—see how strong that bastard's become, and buy time. Don't do anything until Teacher wakes up. Without his backup, I won't let you face the Fallen Heart Flame alone. Even with my strength, I'm not confident against it."
Xiao Yuan's tone was firm.
"Don't worry, Brother. A regular Dou Wang can't kill me. If things get ugly, I'll just bring out the big one."
He was referring, of course, to the Buddha's Wrath Flame Lotus.
"That reminds me— don't use it here!"
Xiao Yuan suddenly looked serious.
Before Xiao Yan could ask, he continued:
"I know you're confident. But listen—Fallen Heart Flame is lurking. That thing feeds on flame-type energy. If it absorbs your lotus flame, what do you think will happen?"
"...Tch."
Xiao Yan broke into a cold sweat.
He hadn't thought of that!
"Thanks, Brother… That would've been a disaster."
BOOM!
High above, the Black-Corner Region's combined attacks collided with the charging serpent, creating a massive explosion. The sky echoed with the flame serpent's furious screech.
Dozens of brilliant energy beams struck the beast, forming a rainbow-like arc. The resulting blast spread across its massive body like fireworks.
Though the serpent had tremendous momentum, even it couldn't withstand such a barrage. With a screech, it crashed downward, its body tumbling through the sky.
The Black-Corner Region fighters cheered—until an even stronger surge of scorching heat burst from below.
They looked down in horror—only to see the serpent already recovered and charging back at them like lightning. Its molten eyes burned with fury.
"Stop it!"
Han Feng barked, and everyone tried to prepare another counterattack—but it was too late.
The serpent opened its jaws, and a massive, invisible pillar of flame burst forth. Though unseen, it warped the entire space in its path.
Where it passed, air turned to nothing. A visible trail burned through the sky.
"Dodge!"
Han Feng shouted, sensing the immense heat.
Those with quick reactions barely escaped. But the less fortunate were caught head-on.
"Aaahhh!"
Screams rang out as more than ten Black-Corner Region fighters were engulfed in the invisible blaze. Even with protective Dou Qi, the pain was indescribable. Like flaming meteors, they flailed and fell.
"Help them!"
Han Feng shouted. These people were critical to his success—he couldn't afford to lose them.
He started to rush over—but just then, a familiar surge of heat shot toward him.
Looking down, he cursed.
"Damn it!"
A second fire pillar roared up. Han Feng flung out his sleeve, summoning a vast sea of blue flames to block it.
"HAAH!"
With a roar, he directed the flames downward, and the two fire pillars—one blue, one invisible—clashed.
BOOM!
The detonation was deafening. Temperatures across the sky soared. Some dried leaves even ignited spontaneously.
Han Feng was forced back several steps mid-air. Regaining balance, he looked down—and saw the flame serpent had coiled into an attack stance, its massive head locked on him.
"Why me?! That other guy has a Heavenly Flame too!"
He growled, sweeping the area with his senses—but Xiao Yuan was nowhere to be found.
"Han Feng, this thing's too powerful. We can't help you anymore. You've got a Heavenly Flame—go weaken it yourself!"
A voice rang out—Han Feng turned to see the Gold and Silver Elders leading a retreating group of allies. Clearly, the serpent's wrath had shaken them.
"Cowards!" he cursed internally.
But he couldn't retreat either. The serpent's gaze had locked onto him. Any hesitation—and it would strike again.
From afar, Xiao Yuan watched with amusement.
But when he saw Han Feng pull out two icy blue jade bottles, his expression changed.
"Cold Sky Chill..."
He'd used it before—he knew what it was. This rare essence from the deepest cold regions could suppress flames. Even Heavenly Flames weakened in its presence.
It was meant to help devour a Heavenly Flame—but using it now would waste it!
The serpent began to falter under the cold mist, and Han Feng went on the offensive.
But he had underestimated the flame.
The moment it was wounded, it erupted with fury. The cold was rapidly burned away.
Invisible flames spread across the sky—and Han Feng was engulfed.
He flung out blue fire to defend himself, but the serpent's massive body vanished.
Han Feng scanned the flames—but saw no trace of it.
"Where did it go—"
Before he could finish, the serpent's body emerged behind him. With a thunderous roar, its tail slammed into his back.
"Pfft!"
Blood sprayed from his mouth as he plummeted like a meteor.
"Beautiful!"
Xiao Yuan couldn't help but cheer—until he realized Han Feng was falling… directly toward him.
His eyes flashed.
This... is the perfect chance to kill Han Feng!
