Chapter 5 - The Immortal

"I understand... if that is their choice, I won't refuse it. I hope they will be fine." Gu Liang sighed, but his expression showed seriousness.

Gu Liang is an orphan; he has long felt the discomfort of those parents.

Gu Liang now walked away from Su Jiao; he knew that his body was showing some of his pain.

"You take this book. Su Jiao, you also have to be able to cultivate quickly. Now that there are only the two of us in this house, I don't want you to be treated like before."

Su Jiao was doubtful at first; she knew the book in front of her was an expensive book.

Su Jiao refused; she hoped that Gu Liang could keep the book for himself.

"Brother Gu, you better keep it. You are now a cultivator. You should be able to develop your strength."

Gu Liang didn't say a word; he now gave the book to Su Jiao without hesitation.

Gu Liang didn't care about it. He and Su Jiao were old acquaintances; he didn't want her to get into trouble.

Su Jiao couldn't help but look nervous; she knew the book in her hand was a very expensive book.

Su Jiao turned to Gu Liang, but saw him walking out into his yard.

Su Jiao sighed; she knew she couldn't return the book to Gu Liang.

'I will do it. It is my only choice to be by Brother Gu's side.'

As time passed, Gu Liang woke up from his meditation—he felt half the wounds on his body healing.

Gu Liang clenched both his fists; he felt his strength had reached the peak of the 1st layer of the Mortal Building realm.

"Fighting is one way for me to advance very quickly. But it won't be useful. My current body is very weak. I might have to learn a little about the Demonic Heart." Gu Liang now focused the power in his body; he knew the Demonic Heart was his true cultivation.

Some time passed, and a terrifying pressure descended around the orphanage—trees and grass started blowing against each other.

The sky above showed lightning bolts; it looked as if an immortal had appeared in the mortal world.

Gu Liang, who was now deep in thought, unhesitatingly displayed his terrifying pressure that reached tens of thousands of meters.

[True Cultivation: Heavenly Transformation 9th layer.]

Gu Liang's eyes showed an emotionless look, and his body seemed to be enveloped in a purple aura.

Su Jiao didn't understand how to tell her; she felt some fear in her heart.

Su Jiao was now gripping the mattress beneath her; she knew her body was showing its bad feelings.

"I-is that an immortal?! This is so terrifying!"

Gu Liang flew towards the cloudy sky. He knew that Su Jiao was now experiencing her terrifying pressure.

Gu Liang didn't feel the sad emotions; he didn't even care about the pain of a living creature.

Gu Liang closed his eyes. He felt his connection to the Demonic Heart had been completely established.

[Host, from now on, you have completely become the owner of the Demonic Heart. Even if the heaven falls, you will forever be able to withstand everything that happens.]

Gu Liang looked at his two palms; he knew that they were now showing his terrifying power.

Gu Liang turned his head within tens of thousands of meters, and he saw several figures that he was very familiar with.

"Ye Fan and... Ah... Those four people... they were the ones who framed me. I really can't forgive them." Gu Liang originally wanted to do some of his attacks, but he heard Su Jiao calling him.

Gu Liang held back his killing intent; he now chose to return to his usual form.

"Gu Liang! Where are you! Please answer me!" Su Jiao couldn't hold back her worried face; she hoped that Gu Liang was not in his bad state.

Su Jiao hoped that the naster immortal would not choose to take Gu Liang with him; she knew he was a cultivator.

Su Jiao turned to the side of the page; she now fell slightly from her place.

"Gu Liang... Please don't joke around. I don't want to lose you!"

Gu Liang couldn't help but laugh; he was happy to see Su Jiao showing her caring side.

Gu Liang now walked closer to Su Jiao's side, and he, without hesitation, gave a few whispers.

"Then tell me, do you love me?"

"Yes... yes... I—" Su Jiao initially wanted to continue her sentence, but she felt Gu Liang's presence nearby.

Su Jiao pushed Gu Liang away from her; she didn't expect her to get a trap from him.

Gu Liang cleared his throat. He didn't expect Su Jiao to choose to stop her answer.

"I'm sorry if I worried you. I was just hiding from that immortal. I hope you can forgive me." Gu Liang moved a little closer to Su Jiao. He hoped he could give her back her calm.

Su Jiao now showed an angry face; she didn't expect Gu Liang to be so bold as to do such a stupid thing.

Su Jiao slightly hit Gu Liang's chest; she hoped he would show his apology.

"You fool... I thought you had been taken by that immortal. I'm glad you're okay."

Gu Liang hugged Su Jiao; he knew she was now showing a worried expression.

"Okay. We have to go in now. The weather outside is getting very cold. I'm afraid someone else will come here."

Su Jiao nodded; she now chose to return to her residence.

Gu Liang narrowed his eyes; he knew that several people hundreds of meters away appeared above him.

The residents within tens of thousands of meters realized what was happening; they felt their bodies showing their fear.

The residents lowered their bodies; it seemed they thought the immortals were the strongest.

"Great immortal lord, I hope you can forgive our arrogance."

"I beg the immortals to give me many wives!"

Humans consider immortals to be omnipotent beings; this can be seen from how they ask an immortal for several requests.

In the past, humans had worshiped immortals, demons, and gods, and now they knew it was real.

The residents were happy to remember that the immortal lord had not chosen to punish them, and they now chose to let out a sigh.

In the eyes of immortals, mortals were like ants that could be killed easily.

"Luckily, that immortal didn't show himself. Otherwise, we don't know what we should do about this city," an old man commented. He now showed a calm face.

The old man turned to his colleagues, and he saw them showing their scared faces.

"Old Wang, let's forget about the previous matter. The Zhao family also has its problems. I'll excuse myself now."

Old Wang was the old man's nickname; he was Wang Huan'er's grandfather.

Old Wang nodded; he knew his friend had left him.

"The Li family also excuses themselves. I hope Brother Wang can guard the Wuzhu area."
