Chapter 39 - Chapter 39 The Fall of the Sound Four

Chapter 39 The Fall of the Sound Four

Sinister, oppressive chakra surged through the bodies of the four shinobi.

Perhaps it was the curse seal's transformation, or perhaps the sudden boost of power, but the fear that had gripped the Sound Four eased slightly.

"Move!"

Sakon shouted, and in the blink of an eye the other three vanished from his side.

In moments, they had surrounded Yuto from four directions, hands flashing through seals at blinding speed.

Yuto stood quietly, watching them without expression, allowing their jutsu to complete.

Though unsettled by his inaction, they dared not relax.

At the final hand sign, they shouted together:

"Secret Art—Four Violet Flames Formation!"

A blazing purple barrier flared into existence, sealing Yuto within a square prison.

Relief flickered across the Sound Four's faces.

"Tell me—who gave you the courage to attack me?"

Yuto's voice carried a trace of amusement. They knew the gulf in strength, yet still dared.

Orochimaru's brainwashing, it seemed, had reached perfection.

"You four have decent ability. Why not join Kirigakure?"

His eyes brightened with mock anticipation as he looked at them.

The Sound Four exchanged bewildered glances, unprepared for such a question.

When it became clear they had no such intention, Yuto sighed with disappointment.

"If you insist on dying, then I'll oblige."

His voice chilled.

Though unease prickled in their hearts, doubt lingered in their eyes.

The Four Violet Flames Formation was Orochimaru's own secret technique. Its power was something they knew well.

Yuto raised his palm. Black-violet chakra gathered swiftly, condensing into a basketball-sized Tailed Beast Ball.

It was the power he had absorbed from Saiken.

Grinning at them, he whispered, "Be careful now."

The sphere left his hand.

Boom!

The explosion shook the earth. The barrier shattered instantly, and the blast consumed the Sound Four.

Blood sprayed from their mouths as they were hurled back, swallowed by the force of the detonation.

Step—step—

Amid the rolling smoke, Yuto emerged, spotless, not even a trace of dust on him.

"Oh? Still alive?"

His brow arched in mild surprise as he gazed into the haze.

"Earth Release Barrier—Earth Prison Dome of Magnificent Nothingness!"

Jirōbō roared, raising towering walls of earth to trap Yuto within a dome.

This was his specialty—an earth cage that not only confined but drained the enemy's chakra to replenish his own.

But his face showed no triumph. Only dread.

"Now! Hurry!" he bellowed to his comrades.

From one side, Tayuya leapt out, weaving hand seals, snapping irritably, "Shut up, fatso!"

"Summoning Jutsu—Doki!"

Poof!

With a cloud of smoke, three towering figures appeared before everyone's eyes.

Tayuya quickly raised the flute from her waist to her lips, playing with sharp urgency. "Demonic Flute—Phantom Sound Chains!"

Shu! Shu! Shu!

Countless strands of spider silk shot out, weaving a web across the battlefield.

At its center sat Kidōmaru, bow drawn to full moon, a gleaming golden arrow ready to fly.

"You don't understand true power…"

The smug voice came from within the earthen prison.

Controlling the jutsu, Jirōbō suddenly trembled, sweat pouring down his face.

Boom!

The entire dome exploded outward, rubble scattering as Yuto stepped calmly out of the wreckage, as if strolling through a garden.

He flicked his fingers.

Three shards of stone whistled through the air like bullets, striking Tayuya's summoned giants before they could even react.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Their skulls shattered instantly, collapsing lifeless to the ground.

A faint whoosh followed.

Jirōbō looked up in horror to find Yuto already standing before him. His mouth opened in desperation—"He—"

But before the word left his lips, his body burst into a cloud of blood.

Yuto flashed forward again, appearing before Tayuya.

She staggered back, terror freezing her limbs, unable to resist.

"Since you're a girl, I'll be gentle."

His hand wrapped around her throat, lifting her into the air.

At that instant—

Kidōmaru's eyes lit up. The bowstring released.

Secret Technique—Spider War Bow: Terrible Split!

The golden arrow became a streak of light, screaming toward Yuto.

The wind howled at his ear, but Yuto didn't even turn his head. His fingers squeezed.

Tayuya's eyes bulged wide before her life was snuffed out.

With his other hand, Yuto casually caught the arrow mid-flight.

Its immense force dissipated instantly at his touch.

He turned the arrow's tip toward Kidōmaru and slowly loosened his grip.

Shu!

The golden arrow shot out faster than before, a streak of death.

Kidōmaru tried to evade, but the thought flashed helplessly: impossible to dodge.

Boom!

The arrow punched through his chest, leaving a gaping hole. His body fell from the web, lifeless.

"One, two, three… one left."

Yuto's tone was light as he turned toward a hidden spot.

In the shadows, Sakon froze, his whole body stiff.

Run!

Or die!

He spun to flee into the depths of Otogakure. But Yuto was already beside him.

"Well, found you."

With a dull thud, Sakon's body was crushed into blood and gore.

From the mess, a head rolled free, still clinging to life.

Yuto's eyes narrowed in realization. Sakon had a twin—Ukon.

The head rolled frantically across the ground, shrieking in terror.

"Orochimaru-sama, save me!!"
