Although Yuri had already expected some consequences, actually seeing her half-finished body still brought an immense shock.
She gave a dramatic gasp. "Well, that's just a disaster," she muttered, quickly pushing the terrifying image aside. Her focus immediately snapped back to the vital mission: finding a flawless outfit for tomorrow.
She became so lost in the wardrobe that she didn't even notice the time passing. Currently, the fashion trends were mostly skinny jeans, skater skirts, and brightly colored casual dresses, which the original Yuri owned a lot of. Layered accessories were popular, and blouses and dresses were often cut in the empire or babydoll line, typically worn with a wide belt. The original Yuri also had a wide variety of peplum tops, dresses, and pencil skirts available.
'This is giving me major flashbacks,' Yuri thought, getting a hit of nostalgia for the styles she loved back in her old world.
'But wow, it feels ancient. I'm so used to 2025's glorious minimalism.'
Since she wasn't a fashion expert, she decided to stick with looks that were both familiar and impactful. Luckily, she could reference the iconic styles of stars from her old timeline.
'Mother Jennie, please bless me with your iconic style,' she prayed silently, performing a quick, silly bow to the closet. Those black Y2K baggy pants she found earlier were a lifesaver, they would hide the "Franken-legs" for now, saving her a ton of Star Coins.
It was already late when she finally found a top and some accessories worthy of her first appearance. With her planning done, she quickly changed into pajamas.
"Skincare done, time for beauty sleep," she announced with a sigh of relief. It was the first time in ages she would sleep at night. Working at the call center meant she had lived like a sleep-deprived vampire, completely flipping her schedule.
This newfound normality made her deeply grateful for her new life and body. Before drifting off, she offered a quiet prayer for the original Yuri to find peace or have her wishes fulfilled.
Lying down, sleep still held back. Worries about her past life, living completely alone despite having living parents, briefly resurfaced. It wasn't that they didn't care, but with their new families, the attention was minimal. Visits often felt awkward, like she was a polite guest. That's why she absolutely loved having a real family here, with an aunt, uncle, and twin brothers she didn't have to compete with. Yuri finally drifted off, dreaming about her public debut.
...
Across town, Aunt Theresa and Uncle Juhyun were settling in. After tucking the twins to sleep, Aunt Theresa immediately turned to her husband with worry.
"Say, you really think Yuri is alright?" Aunt Theresa asked, her voice heavy with concern over Yuri's thin appearance and current scandal.
"I know you are worried, but let's trust her. I think she's okay now, given that she can still smile. Didn't she say she's going on a show soon?" Uncle Juhyun replied, trying to be calming.
"Yes, but do you think it's good for her to continue down this path?" Aunt Theresa pressed.
"You know how stubborn she can get. There is no use for us to stop her. All we can do is support her," Uncle Juhyun replied patiently.
"Hmph. It's all your fault," Aunt Theresa suddenly snapped.
"What did I do now?" he asked, completely bewildered.
"You encouraged her to be a star! She got her stubborn streak from you, too. So yes, it's all you!" she replied, pointing an accusatory finger.
Uncle Juhyun was once again left speechless.
'Says the person who practically bankrupted us buying her albums and stayed up late nights voting,' he thought, but wisely kept the observation to himself.
"Okay, okay, it's all my fault," Uncle Juhyun conceded, resigned.
"Good. Now go sleep in the twins' room. I don't want to smell you right now," Aunt Theresa commanded, already grabbing his pillow.
"What... but..." Uncle Juhyun stammered, utterly defeated. He took the pillow and headed for the door.
He carefully walked over to the twins' room, thinking they were asleep, but was surprised to see the two boys were still awake.
"Why aren't you two asleep?" He realized they had tricked him again.
"What is he doing here?" Popoy whispered to his brother, loud enough for all three to hear.
"He got kicked out," Pepoy whispered back, sounding like a seasoned commentator.
"Oh! You got kicked out!" Popoy suddenly announced, pleased with his discovery.
Uncle Juhyun sighed, defeated, dreading the long, judgmental night ahead.
.....
Yuri was jolted awake by the sudden alarm. Groaning, she fumbled for her phone, unable to find it.
"Ugh, I don't want to go to work," Yuri moaned silently. Her brain was already running through an entire script of excuses to be absent.
'A sick day? No money for a doctor's note. Family emergency? I used that last month. Half-day? I haven't taken one in ages...'
She finally grabbed the phone without opening her eyes, but the simple effort of lifting her eyelids felt monumental. When she finally forced them open and saw the unfamiliar ceiling, it all rushed back.
"Right, I transmigrated!" she shrieked happily, instantly shedding all traces of laziness.
It was only 6 a.m., and the meeting wasn't until noon. She swiftly cooked herself a luxurious breakfast, eggs and hotdogs, (the extent of her culinary skill) then spent time scrolling the internet, frantically cramming information. After a quick, unsuccessful search for details on the new show, The Singer-Songwriter, she rushed to the shower. She spent ages enjoying the bathtub, meticulously polishing every inch of her body, even though she still wasn't used to the sight of her new, "Franken-body."
While doing her skincare, she planned her look.
'I think a little wave and blow out would make this pretty face stand out more,' she thought, with characteristic vanity. She immediately got to work, but the process was a struggle.
"Phew, this hair is thicker than a physics textbook; it just keeps falling!" she puffed, finally setting the rollers. She checked the time: 10 a.m.
"Oh shoot!"
She rushed to the wardrobe to put on her OOTD.
As soon as she put on the carefully chosen clothes, she was left speechless. Her upper body, wearing a cute, tight, tea-red shirt, was perfectly hugged, accentuating her stunning small waist and wide hips, creating a chic and sexy vibe. But the baggy pants below were a visual tragedy, hanging like a sad, empty sack around her skinny legs. The contrast was truly bizarre.
'Darn, I need to fix this fast,' Yuri thought, panicking slightly.
She pulled off the pants, grabbed several pair of thick leggings, and score! found a set of the original Yuri's butt pads in different sizes. Choosing the medium size, which she felt perfectly balanced her new top half, she pulled the baggy pants back on.
"Thank God for padded accessories!" Yuri exclaimed, immensely relieved that she wouldn't have to postpone the meeting.
'She must have known she was too thin, too,' Yuri realized, sharing a silent, humorous moment with the original owner of the body.
Yuri checked the mirror again and finally grinned. Her body radiated a healthy glow. The outfit fit perfectly; even if the baggy pants still weren't exactly her dream look, the overall effect was now that of a top model.
'I'd better go eat more spicy death food to upgrade my lower body soon,' she vowed, twirling.
"I want them long and shapely legs!"
She quickly took down the rollers and checked the time: 11 a.m. She added sunscreen, a little blush, and an orange lip balm.
Why so little makeup?
First, because she didn't know how to do more.
Second? She was already drop-dead gorgeous, so why bother? Yuri thought, with zero humility.
Adding a black and maroon checkered necktie as a belt to cinch her waist, she looked in the mirror one last time.
"STUNNING," she declared.
The woman looking back was the epitome of casual chic, radiating confident energy, a true manhwa heroine come to life.
"Ready or not, here I come!" Yuri said with a smirk, blowing a small kiss toward the mirror while putting on her sunglasses before confidently strutting out of the apartment.
