"What is it?" I asked.
"You are getting a little sister soon," he said, grinning wider.
"…What?"
He burst out laughing.
"I'm just joking. But…" he paused, then winked, "don't worry we are trying hard for it."
My lips twitched.
This guy really would let his mouth run whenever mom wasn't around.
He stood up, still chuckling, and started walking around the room.
He picked up some of my books from the shelf.
One of them caught his attention, a storybook version of King Arthur.
"Have you read this one?" he asked, flipping through the pages.
I nodded.
It was a simple story about Arthur Pendragon, the brave king, the strongest swordsman, the one who could pull the sword from the stone.
"What did you think of it?" he asked.
"It was good," I said, trying to sound like an excited kid.
"What did you like about it?"
"I liked the magic. And the monsters. And the sword that could cut anything."
He laughed, shaking his head.
