Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

Riel wakes up to the blinding golden rays of sunlight coming through the windows while reflecting on the white glistening walls of the room. Her eyes trailed the surrounding looking for something familiar to reassure her that she was still in the same place.

She looks up at the floral pattern of white jasmines on the Canopy above her and then at the blankets over her body, She was in her room, but had no recollection of how she had gotten there.

Her head spinning as she tried to sit up while her body ached and soared with every move that she made, as though it was refusing to co-operate with her.

She was wrapped with bandages covering every inches of her upper body, the last thing she could recall was the piercing stinging pain of something hot onto her skin and a voice, right after her argument with Kiha. And that every other thing after that was a bit fuzzy.

"You're awake"

She turns towards the door as she hears the voice, Lustre she looked back down at the bandages wondering if he was the one that had brought her here and treated her.

"Don't worry you weren't defiled, I'm not the type to do that to an already injured patient and even if I was, it wouldn't be you." He says.

Riel looks at him her face in awe from feeling insulted and being annoyed by his comment.

About to talk back Levi rushes into the room hugging her tightly with his small hands. Her face twitching from the excruciating ache from her body.

"Uh... Levi be...." she pauses watching with silence as his face fills with distraught and he buried his face into the blanket on her. She felt bad almost irresponsible for making a kid his age worry about her when she's the one meant to be doing so.

Patting his head slowly and yet gently, she tries to soothe him to think that she was alright.

Out of the corner of her eye she spots Lethan, hiding behind the door. She had felt that he disliked her much since he had always tried to keep his distance ever since she arrived at the estate and that she didn't even know his existence up until recently, But it seems that was not the case.

She stretches an arm towards him, urging him to come closer,.

Lethan walks towards her, his hands clenching down on the hem of his shirt out of nervousness, until he finally reaches her embrace.

"Okay you two that's enough, She needs to rest." Lustre says trying to separate the boys from her, "The maids told me what happened, but Unfortunately, the burn from the boiling water will cause a scar and the type that would take some time to fade."

Hearing Him say that Riel remembered. She had been in the Kitchen helping out when Kiha came in arguing and warning her to stay away from Lustre and that lead to...

Thinking back on what had happened it seemed too silly or even more stupid to her.

"And Kiha?" She asks trying to push back the thoughts of what had happened.

A smirk appeared on Lustres' face but it was gone as soon as it appeared.

"She left" he says answering her question as he turns to take a seat.

"Left?" Riel questions herself, There was no way someone like that would have gone willing of her own accord, except they were made to. Thinking this she looks up at Lustre trying to make sense of the behavior.

"Is there something on my face? that your staring at oh so seriously" He says flipping through the book in his hand.

Realizing that she had stared longer than intended, she diverts her face hurriedly feeling self-conscious as her face flush red. She wanted to give her thanks but was at a loss for words

Seeing her unease and how quick she was to avert her gaze, Lustre lets out a low chuckle finding it funny almost amusing even as he watches her fumble over her own thoughts of how to say her thanks, while his gaze lingered on her.

But her thanks was not the priority of things on his mind.

His mind reminisces about what had happened as he left and the strange tinge in his chest as he saw her in that state, certainly it was one he had never experienced and yet he found it difficult to put a label onto it since even he couldn't understand such feelings.

But to him, one thing was for sure that this feelings and it's source was Unnecessary and needed to be cut off the roots to leave the ever so Perfect Gemstones polished and Untainted.

Thinking and pondering on what to do, Axiver comes in, his expression one of urgent emergency as he enters.

Coming into the room he bows showing his respect to Riel as expected of him and then with an "Excuse the intrusion" he walks up to Lustre urgency in his steps as he bends and whispers something into his ears.

The room falls quiet, almost too quiet as Axiver enters into the room. Lustre listened to what Axiver had whispered to him, with casual seriousness in his eyes.

His lashes fluttering like that of a butterfly in spring as it rested upon the sweet nectar of flowers, their wings dancing elegantly yet beautifully with not a single intention of effort needed, his thin long eyes closed as he listened patiently.

As Axiver had supposedly finished delivering his message his eyes that were like that of a beauty in slumber grew large like he had just experienced a sudden realization from something.

He closes the book within his grasp with firmness as he straightens his legs. Straightening his suit as he stands up from the chair with such pose.

He stops his gaze going back to Riel like he had something to say.

"W...what?" Riel asks confused by what was going on.

Ignoring her question his gaze lingers on her. Her image reflecting on his luminous scarlet eyes, he watches her, his expression like he had something to say to her but instead he turns away

"The both of you shouldn't disturb her, remember she needs rest to heal... And also, don't always engage them in useless activities. it's not good for their mental growth." Saying this he strides out the door.
