Jax looked around at the tension. Everyone was staring at him. Waiting.
He shrugged.
"Well, jokes apart. Or rather, truth apart." He gestured at the army behind them. "What made the whole academy show up here? Was my absence that heartbreaking to you all? Was--?"
Zharina cut him off. "I don't know the full details. Headmistress just ordered us after many residents reported letters from their families about what was happening here."
Jax smirked. "And here I thought that demonic slut was feeling guilty and came to apologize for her mistakes."
Zharina glanced at him. Then smiled.
"By the way, Jax." She cracked her knuckles. "Now that you're not a professor anymore. Just a peasant like before. Like you always were."
Her eyes gleamed dangerously.
"Wouldn't it be fun to have my revenge?"
Jax sighed.
