Jax was muttering under his breath.
"You absolute trash. What the hell are you thinking? Just say you accept every condition. A child of someone else won't be an issue. Say it. Open your mouth. Form the words."
His internal monologue was a mess.
Adelina heard his murmurs.
She giggled.
The sound caught Jax's attention. He looked up at her.
She stopped giggling. Composed herself.
Then her expression shifted. Anger replacing amusement. She was ready to tease him.
"So my child can be an issue to you?"
Her voice was sharp.
"You're hesitant because I'm carrying someone else's child?"
Jax's eyes went wide.
"No! I didn't mean—"
She cut him off.
"If you're thinking that way, then I'm sorry." Her voice turned cold. "I won't accept your proposal."
She pulled her hand back slightly.
"How can I? If my future husband would never look at my child as his own?"
Jax panicked.
He grabbed her hand. Held it tight.
"No. I won't do that. Trust me."
His words came out rushed. Desperate.
