Jax continued with his cold face and flat tone. "I have just changed the person who was supposed to be on the receiving end. The same end where my student Elira would have been. The difference is your mother has to obey and surrender her body for just a single day. While Elira would have gone through it until she decided to take her own life."
He stepped closer to Delphine.
"Where were those sins and that justice at that time? Why didn't your justice-seeking ass intervene back then?"
She went silent.
But Jax wasn't. "Where were your tears then? Where were your grand speeches about sin, morality, and justice when it was my student staring into hell? Why did your righteous conscience stay so perfectly asleep until the suffering finally knocked on your own front door?"
She was grinding her teeth while staring at the ground. Jax raised her head using the flat of his sword beneath her chin until their eyes met again.
