Aisha panicked when the door opened, the raised hand still half-lifted over a man who had just refused her order.
Then she saw the same woman from before, the one who had stood beside her grandmother. Aisha did not know she was the Chamberlain, but she knew that much. This one was close to Grandma. If Aisha went too far, the woman would spill it.
She tsked and pulled the skirt to her, eyes off the Chamberlain on purpose. "How do you think you can walk in here without knocking?"
The Chamberlain forced herself through the picture. Aisha dressing. Jax kneeling with the bed's toe in his grip and killing intent rolling out of him like heat off a stove. Last, the two spirits waiting for orders they had not been given yet.
Amnesia needed a moment to recognize the woman in front of her. She had only ever seen her in pictures and statues, and those only matched a few features.
In the flesh Aisha looked like someone else entirely.
